It wouldn't be bad if it were a character completely distinct (but based on) her relative, but Gaga's speech makes it sound like she's just emulating her... I'm not in Gaga's family, so I'll never truly know the impact Joanne's had on her and the rest of her family. It's weird for me to say it's weird when I don't know the circumstances. I see it as a tribute to her late aunt, it's like she's doing what her aunt would've loved to do but was never able to.. I guess People hate what they don't understand. I totally get that she has a special connection and a feeling that Joanne lives on through part of her, but to transform yourself into someone that has passed at the cost of your own identity is a little bizarre imo. It makes it sounds more like an aggressive possession rather than a special connection. I'm hoping that maybe she'll explain it further on and it will make more sense.
