I was just listening to my David Bowie playlist and then "Suffragette City" came on. And I started to think if Lady Gaga's upcoming song "Hey Girl" is inspired by this song.

David Bowie - Suffragette City

Hey man, oh leave me alone you know
Hey man, oh Henry, get off the phone, I gotta
Hey man, I gotta straighten my face

Hey man, my schooldays insane
Hey man, my work's down the drain
Hey man, well she's a total blam-blam

Hey man, oh Henry, don't be unkind, go away
Hey man, I can't take you this time, no way
Hey man, droogie don't crash here

Lady Gaga - Hey Girl

Hey girl, can you hear me // Are you holding out your heart?
Hey girl, do you feel me? sometimes I go too far
Hey girl, it ain’t easy // I know it’s pulling me apart
Hey girl, don’t you leave me
Hey girl, don’t you leave me
Hey girl
Hey girl

It might be a reach, but we all know Bowie is important to Gaga. So what do you think? :diane:

If lets say Hey girl was Katy's song LMs would destroy her :creepflop: but since it's Gaga's than we can just say that she got inspired by it and it's totally ok :chica:

Why should we expose someone because of getting inspired by a legend like Bowie?

This is no shade! I really love Gaga for making such connections. It's more of a tribute than just copying an idea to me...

Anything is possible but you know, the phrase Hey Girl is already permeated popular culture, there is no reason to think it was inspired by Bowie when there are literally thousands of other things it could have been inspired by, not to mention that it was definitely inspired by the whole Applause vs Roar fiasco.

Fame - The Fame

Fashion - Fashion!

"Is there life on Mars?" - "There is life on Mars"

Let's Dance - Just Dance

"Hey Man" - "Hey Girl"

I'm sure there are more references to Bowie.

I mean she made Boys Boys Boys inspired by Girls Girls Girls so this is probably how she got Hey Girl :giggle:

If this is true then you guys were probably right about her rewriting most of the album after bowie's death :air:

Suffragette City is one of my favourite songs off Ziggy Stardust so I hope so. But from the way she described it, it seemed to be more Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash inspired.
