Black Protest - please support us

I'm a polish cis-woman and just came back from the protest in my town. Since I live in eastern PL, which is more conservative and narrow-minded, I was suprised by the amount of women in black. There were quite a lot of shitheads who tried to provoke us not only by arguing about the case (that would be fine), but also with DISGUSTING catcalling and misogynistic comments. It wasn't surprising at all, but just straight up sad.

I don't need to know whether calling abortion a murder is theoretically correct or not. All I know is, a woman shouldn't need to get through 9 painful months and even more awful labor to give birth to a deadly sick child, which won't live in some cases even an hour. And rape? Sure, oppress a traumatized woman even more. She HAS to love a child with genes of her rapist. She HAS to suffer again through labor.

Don't even get me started on orphanages. They're poor and most of people who grew up there, later have some mental issues, unstable relationships, lack education and don't live a good life. I'm sorry if you're/were an orphan and you're alright. This is how it looks in most cases.

Thank you for making this thread on GGD.

Oh yeah, thats not womens rights.. thats children's rights. Plus, morality and rights is a objective matter so everyone has a say in it, not just women.

Please just list why you think a fetus is alive. No youtube videos, no 'SCIENCE!!11' - I want to hear what you have to say on this yourself. Why should we consider a fetus to be alive?

A fetus is a living thing. It is "alive" in that it is a being made up of living cells. Whether or not it is a "person" is where the debate becomes relevant.

To be eligible for human rights you have to be a human, which means the concept of "personhood" needs to be established. So where do you draw that line, and how do you find a solution that is scientifically based but also caters to cultural morals?
Is an egg with a sperm half-buried inside a human? Or is it at the first few divisions of cells? Or is it when the cells start to "look like" a person? Does whether or not the fetus can survive outside the womb matter?

Some people think that a collection of cells with the potential to develop into a human deserves more rights than the functioning and intellectual adult woman whose body and mind the fetus is dependent on, others believe that a fetus isn't reasonably eligible for human rights until the development of the neocortex when can successfully survive outside of the womb.

----------

Regardless of how people feel, "Pro Life" is a false sense of caring about life because in reality it's Pro-Fetus; they don't care about the lives of the women, the health of women, the history behind what happens to women in places with illegal abortion, or the many children already living in foster care and adoption centers. Pro-Lifers only care about someone when they're a fetus but then after will find excuses for why your life doesn't matter. They often claim to care about those babies but after it's born magically step out of the picture to give up fighting for its well-being. :nails:

You rock for going to the protest! Such a shame people were being so rude to you- it proves exactly why this fight for women is so important.

All the time people spend trying to fight abortion they should spend trying to help the thousands of children with no families at all. They could put their efforts towards the hungry children, the children without education, the children in need of a home. They're so concerned about the life of a collection of cells that can't even survive outside of the human it's feeding off of that they conveniently turn their backs on the kids who are reaching out for help.

Keep up the good fight!

Yeah I wonder if there is only a way to do that.. DONT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX!

A mothers right does not over ride a babies right specially when his existence is based on his mothers poor choices.

"his mothers poor choices"

Oh, look. A man blaming an unwanted pregnancy entirely on the woman. #WhyAmINotSurprised

Reading your posts it's almost like you believe a woman who gets pregnant should have to keep the baby out of punishment for premarital sex. You clearly have a negative view about people with different sexual lives than you do.

In the US when abortions were illegal many women suffered through pregnancy and unwanted children because their husbands REFUSED to wear condoms. So much for your "don't have unprotected sex!" and "only have sex with someone you love!" argument there, huh?
We live in a world where we don't educate people on how to keep themselves protected then force them to become a parent when things go wrong. And who bears the most suffering- physically, mentally, and emotionally? The woman. Who gets all the blame? The woman. Who gets told she can't make a decision regarding something that is effecting her entire body and life? The woman.

I'm proud we have so many people here who believe in women's rights and actually believe in protecting "Life"- not just fetuses. It's nice to see a majority of this community recognizes real science and human rights.

Abortion is not pretty- it's sad and an unfortunate situation. But in the grand scheme of things it's more reasonable and helpful than degrading women and bringing more unwanted children into this world.

Lots of love and support to you and the movement. I sincerely hope the regressive law gets scrapped. Cheers to you and your fellow protesters for fighting for your cause and not getting intimidated by the catcalling and comments of misogynistic cowards.

Thank you all! :hug:The response in media is huge, this cannot be unconsidered. And if it will be... we are mad and this was just a warning.

When another human is involved, its not a womens right issue anymore, its the child's right too. According to science, the child is alive so dont even try to make that argument. The argument most people who are pro choice say is even if its alive, its the womans choice!!

So you're saying children should be allowed to make their own decisions from the day they are born? :awkney:

The thing is we could argue that case for animals, plant, even human lives.

So the fact of whether a fetus is alive or not shouldn't be argued within the context of abortions. (I personally believe abortion in the later stages of pregnancy IS murder since by then the baby has pretty much matured and alive in the sense that most people understand).

But I 100% support abortion, especially if it's in the early stages of pregnancy. It's unfair for a child and its parents to be in a position no one was prepared for.

And for those who support abortion no matter the timing of the abortion, if women could have an abortion during the later stages of pregnancy, then they also would have the right to euthanize (not sure if this is the right word) the baby in its infant stages.

Science does show that at conception the person is alive. Whether merely being alive is enough to confer rights depends on your morality. Also, if you support a woman's right to own her body, you should also support all kind of drugs even the most dangerous and support prostitution.

Receipts please.

The science that I am reading (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19092726) tells me that a fetus (NOT A PERSON, stop mixing the terms) does not have enough neurons in its brain until the 22nd week of pregnancy to even talk about it having consciousness, let alone self-awareness, which arises in early childhood.

If you watched the video, you would know she doesnt care if the baby can feel pain or not, she just brought that up to show how these things dont matter and what matters that life begins at conception.

literally wtf does that matter. a flower is alive. grass is alive. should mowing our lawns be illegal?

just being alive doesnt make someone a human.
