Meghan lacks star power. Yea she has bops, but bops alone are not enough to withstand time. You need that something extra, and she just doesn't have it.

No doubt she's talented, but to be a superstar you need to have stage presence and just be able to get all eyes on you. She unfortunately lacked that. But, she's gonna continue making big coins, especially because her main talent lies in writing songs. So even if her career as a singer dies, she'll continue to thrive in the music industry.

Now she'll be joining gaga and gonna be an indie artist :giggle:

but who cares? Most of the top 100 is tragic. Meghan's music remains good and unbothered.

I've noticed this as well. I think her problem is that she's such a "middling" artist. Everything about her is merely "ok." Ok looks, ok voice, ok songs, ok dancing (maybe?), ok personality. But nothing is outstanding. She has no stage presence or star quality about her. It's one thing to have some of your persona be ok but to have every element be ok? You can't be around for long if that's the case. Especially with the music scene being how it is, with dwindling sales and people opting to stream instead of buy. In such a world, being ok simply doesn't cut it.

But the fact is that one/two album wonders are very common in the industry. It's partly because the public have low attention spans and not much loyalty, they just want good music, regardless of who it's coming from. But it's partly because the industry isn't signing and promoting the right people. So many artists are coming up now who I look at and think: "By the time their second album comes out, no one's going to care." And I usually call it right. You can tell these people a mile off because everything about them is so ordinary, so middle of the road. Yet, they keep getting signed and getting swiftly forgotten about while the true stars don't get a chance. Personally, if I was a label chief, I wouldn't want to sign anyone who I felt was unlikely to get more than one successful album. Just having one good element about you isn't enough. This is why shows like The Voice don't produce successful stars (apart from Melanie Martinez, although she's hardly major) across any of its many international versions - because they focus completely on the voice. They don't take into account if the person has songwriting ability, has charisma, stage presence or is even, you know...interesting! Say what you want about more superficial similar shows like Idol and X Factor, but at least they made stars because they knew what it took. And what it took was a lot more than a voice. If a good voice was all that was needed to be a successful artist, the charts would look very different.

Her Do Wop sound ruined her I think. The first album worked but when she went with a more current sound for her second album is showed that she really doesn't have the star power to be a mega star.

Some of you guys are ass clowns, not everything going to be number one! Or have to be in the top 10 to be considered a hit, I think old girl will do music until she's doesn't want to anymore.
