REALITY 76,276
So, this is a question that I've sort of had on my mind for a while, it's something that I've been thinking about more and more as she evolves as an individual and as an artist, and that is: Do you think Gaga would completely switch genres? To clarify, I know she has (ala Cheek to Cheek), and it's very obvious that she can perform many different types of music. However, my question is that would you think that Gaga would pull a "Taylor Swift" and just change genres completely? Taylor was once a very well-known country singer, but she evolved and is now pretty much known for her pop music. She's known for her pop music, but has time has progressed, she's definitely expressed that she's not your "typical pop star". All that said, we haven't heard any song off of Joanne besides Perfect Illusion, but from the very beginning it was a polarizing song because it wasn't necessarily like Bad Romance, or Just Dance, or Poker Face, or any of her gigantic pop hits. Who knows, maybe Joanne will be the first album to stray from pop—in some way or manner. *That being said, this question isn't necessarily going into specifics, like, "Oh, well her label and management wouldn't let her do that.". It's more just me wondering she would do it, because she's—like I said—definitely not your average pop star. EDIT - Also, this is about her as a whole, not just specifically Joanne. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
samuelx 1,309
I just think things evolve and change constantly. "Deciding" on what something should be or what type of music someone should make is almost detrimental to someone's mental health and creativity. Dramatica 13,690
Pop culture was in charts, now charts in pop culture in meeeeee She's a pop artist, she won't derail from that too much I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time. She made a complete 180, and for Gaga, it would be—in my opinion—a bit more plausible. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
xoxo cupcakke 4,781
If she could still get the same bling for the music and signs a very liberal contract, then yeah. As she is now, probably not, even though I wish. Joanne will be very different in sound and nature, but not anything near a complete stray away from pop. I figure she'd include more songs like the "The Queen" and less püssy poppers like Scheiße, but in the grand scheme of things, we should not consider Joanne indie or alternative unless we are working with a very, very, very, very loose definition of the term
Iwontell 7,312
Should she? Yes... Will she ever? I don't think so... At best we're going to have a side project thing like C2C, but she probably won't let go of pop music, which is only going to hold her back, tbh...not that she'd do great commercially if changed genres - she'd probably do worse than now in that aspect -, but if she has any intention of being taken seriously by the specialized media, the critics and her peers (and she obviously wants that), pop music is SO not the way to achieve it... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
DeanWinchester 41,390
I literally don't know and given how often she contradicts herself, we may never know until it happens Flyin' like a 1000 Doves
JEWRJEWR 5,663
PI is a pop song. It shares the same genre as the other songs you mentioned... Fear, she's the mother of violence
Sakrai 4,759
When did Taylor Swift change genre? Sorry but she was always a pop singer. American media wanted y'all to believe she was miss american dream singing country 'n s**t, giving her grammys and celebrating her basic ass songs, but I don't buy it sorry I think gaga would, if she wanted to. But I think she feels more comfortable singing pop music, and that's just who she is. Maybe she could make a couple of experimental records, but I would say she'll always automatically gravitate towards pop. Oh, I'm just visiting-

Of course it's a pop song. I'm not contesting that, but it's been evident right from the very beginning that it was a different sort of sound. My question was whether or not she'd go further and try to completely delve into a different genre. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
ReidOne 12,427
I absolutely think she would. Gaga is the type of artist who loves to evolve and explore different sides of her own creativity. When you think about it, with ARTPOP and even more so the artRAVE, she took her dance pop style to the absolute highest highs. It doesn't get any more dance pop than that experience. So I think it's to be expected she's going to head for new territory on Joanne, and further shift the public perception of what she stands for as a musician.
