How does Gaga get our money?

On tours her label gets nothing. All the money goes to Gaga, LiveNation, dancers, technicians...

About albums Gaga gets almost nothing.

That's not true actually.  Every contract is different but the label spends money and assures they get that money back.  Sure there's always a sponsor but the label earns for a tour as well.

I hope that was a joke, her label holds the royalties, they brand / rent arenas for the show / manage every administrative and financial thing. And you say they don't get anything? :creepflop: Do you think she's the one to pay for everything? :creepflop:

Every contract is special but in most times, the actual company (Interscope) doesn't get a lot from the tour because they own the rights on the music, not on the artist. We don't know about Gaga's contract but for sure Interscope doesn't get so much from toursbut  from the music sales. It's LiveNation and universal that pay for the tour and the promotion + sponsors like Absolut at the artRAVE. Gaga's cache is super high and she gets paid to make a tour, LiveNation rents the venues so the money goes to her, the rental, the royalties for the music/copyright, crew, etc.

No my bad needed, my friend.  It's a tricky business.  All parties involved make money off a tour.  There's many times an artist doesn't want to tour a record for whatever reason but are pressured into it.  Why?  Well, it does pay the artist but they wouldn't pressure if it didn't pay "them" too.   That said, it's all about the contracts.  I think by this point in time Gaga should have a pretty decent contract.  An artist has to get thrust into becoming a business person after awhile!  It's an interesting conversation.  Xo ;)

There's a great story about a band named Deee-Lite who lost their label's support by their third album and the lead singer literally used her own money to finance the tour in support of that third album, "Dewdrops In The Garden".  While the tour was a success, and she paid it from her own pockets, the label still came in for their share....and that pissed her off and she's yet to officially release new music since!   That was in the 90's!   So yea...it's interesting!!

She's one of the few artists who holds a 360 deal with LiveNation so no, the label doesn't get any money off of touring, merchandise, or arenas ..

It's actually the opposite, most of the time, major record labels sign a deal with the artist called "The 360 Deal" that covers everything from making music to touring and merchandising.

Economy

Well for tours i know a big portion goes to company organizing as well as whatever stadium/arena your doing it in.

Also dont forget taxes

As for albums/singles:

- A portion goes to site that sells it (ex: itunes, amazon)

- A portion goes to song writers (if the song wasnt bought at a flat one time purchase)

- A Portion goes to Label/Producers

I know that out of an average contract a $1.29 single only 11 cents go to the artist

So a really big hit that sells 3M copies for example will get the artist some $330,000 (minus personal income taxes of course)

Gaga is in a 360 deal if I remember so her label does get a percentage of tour and endorsement revenue.  It's how they make money since people steal music these days.
