who would give up not working with one of the greatest labels ever, especially when youre best buds with Jimmy Iovine

sorry I'm kind of ignorant on the subject, but if she became an independent artist could she even afford to fund her own career? I know she has a ton of money obv. but would it be enough if she went back to making huge production music videos and tours?

As far as we know, she's happy with Interscope and she's probably going to renew her contract. I mean, we got ARTPOP and Born This Way, two albums that were risky for a popstar. I think the main problem she had in the past was with her manager, not the label.

If you guys think being an independent artist would make her as big as The Fame/Born This Way, you're probably wrong. Marketing was massive at that time because they had to invest in her persona.

I think Interscope is Gaga's best option. They give their artists the most freedom. The only alternative would be Gaga going to XL like Adele and FKA.

Jimmy Iovine left.

Didn't Gaga say she had two more albums on her contract after ARTPOP?

I'm pretty sure she won't be looking at this decision until at least two of three years from now. At that time, who knows what will be going on with record labels and the music industry?

The cool thing about this is not only the wonder of "will she resign or go elsewhere"....it's the fact that now she can negotiate.  Some will say she isn't the same draw she was in 2011 but everyone in the industry knows she's still one to watch.  They may wonder if she's holding out until she moves to a new label!  The "thoughts" can be endless.  She's still a viable artist and now that she can truly negotiate her next contract, it'll be ON for her.   This is good news.

If there's another album after Joanne, watch her pull a TFM and put out an EP with some remixes and call that contract a day!  Lol

If the contract says full-length albums with new music, that means only The Fame, Born This Way, ARTPOP and Joanne are part of it as of right now. Cheek To Cheek is a covers album and The Fame Monster is an EP (Yes, Gaga and we all say it's the 2nd album but technically it's an extended version of The Fame)

Exactly.  It all depends on what the contract says.  I hope the album after Joanne is full length new music but I do know there's ways to kinda get out of that. I just want as much new Gaga as I can get. Lol. :)

She certainly has enough money to "walk".  I think it will depend on how much artistic freedom she is offered, such as getting to pick her own singles, videos, etc.  Even though she makes money commercially, she is very much an "art for art's sake" type of person.
