Applause, easily. It has so many interesting scenes and references. And I think the visuals a more vivid and artistic.

No contest. Applause.

Not only are the German Expressionist inspired visuals more original and compelling than the over done Cloverfeild shaky camera shtick, the Applause video is obliviously much more heartfelt.

How can you even compare her kicking up dust in the desert to her withering on the mattress in pain from an injury which took away her ability to for fill her life's greatest passion, performing.

there is no 'obviously' here. that's your interpretation. i'd argue that various forms of perfect illusions almost took away her ability to trust in herself and in her artistry: she almost quit music. approaching the subject matters of the videos from that perspective, you, in fact, can compare and draw parallels between the two. gaga's artistry is a complex whole, a giant disco ball, the tiny shiny mirrors of which are connected. you see, that's my interpretation. there is no universal truth here. everything is a matter of perspective. there's no need to discredit either.

I'm not buying that nearly half the people in this thread genuinely believe PI was the better video. I think people are lying/faking/forcing themselves to support PI at this point no matter what at this point just on the principle of blindly supporting Lady Gaga in every single thing that she does. The song is very meh and the video is absolute crap -- pretty much one of the worst music videos I've ever seen and by her standards it's garbage. TEOG and Judas look good by comparison. Outside of this forum it's unanimous, every person I have spoken to about the song or video has pretty much wrote off this era or even wrote her off personally and indefinitely. A few have expressed neutral opinions but nowhere else outside of here have I seen any positive reactions to her new material.   And everyone saying that her label doesn't really care about the sales and charts this era because it's just a one-off experimental indie thing or whatever I think that's a bunch of **** of course they care. This is a business and Gaga is not going to continue to retain 100% creative control over her music unless she remains profitable and the label expenses promoting the new material and getting her on the road are recoupable -- we've already seen how they've hedged against diminishing returns with cutbacks in the overall production of ArtRAVE and I think we're going to see a lot more of that with this tour. I hope they force this era to pass quickly and painlessly -- a short album campaign and even short tour then back to studio to finish the work she started with other producers and drop another EP that will put her back in orbit and lead to another multi-year juggernaut of world tours. :gaycat:
