Trump renews Anti Abortion stances

As with most policy issues he’s commented on, Donald Trump’s positions on abortion could best be described as “confused.” Over the past decade or so, he’s said so many contradictory things on the subject that a detailed timeline to sort it out may be handy.

Like most Republicans, Trump has called for defunding Planned Parenthood — but unlike most Republicans, he has also praised the organization for its women’s health services. When he got pushback for saying in March that “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who have abortions, he took five different stances on abortion in three days before settling on the standard (and dubious) pro-life talking point that only doctors, not women, would face criminal punishment if abortion were outlawed.

The Hill reported Friday that Trump has tapped leading anti-abortion advocate Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, to lead his campaign’s “Pro-Life Coalition.”

Hiring Dannenfelser sends a strong signal that Trump is willing to go along with some seriously hard-line positions against abortion. Dannenfelser has said that making exceptions for rape victims in abortion bans is “abominable,” and has made clear that she thinks supporting bills that contain such exceptions is a distasteful “political” concession.

Dannenfelser, like many pro-life activists, is also deeply hostile to contraception. She has said that contraception increases the rate of abortion, which is exactly backward. And SBA List falsely claims that intrauterine devices and emergency contraception cause “early abortions.”

Trump has already proposed to make birth control more expensive for women — with a one-two punch of moving birth control over the counter without requiring that insurance cover it, and repealing the Affordable Care Act along with its no-copay birth control benefit.

Trump already sent a pretty strong signal on his intentions for reproductive health when he nominated Pence as his running mate. Pence is one of America’s most dedicated anti-abortion governors, and even signed a bizarre law this year that would have mandated funerals for fetuses. (That law was later struck down as unconstitutional.)

Trump will appoint Supreme Court justices who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. This is the biggest deal when it comes to Trump’s actual personal power to influence reproductive rights policy if elected president. Whoever wins this election could end up appointing as many as four new Supreme Court justices as the current justices age or retire, which could shape the Court’s ideology for decades to come.

Can i point out that the UK are are looking on in horror that Trump is doing so well in the polls. I really hope he doesn't win.

As an Indiana resident (who will bounce outta here the first opportunity)...I just.  I can't.  Even.  

Pence has screwed up this state (but at least Indianapolis residents are pretty vocal with signs and strong opinions about Pence's crap).  He did pull all that stuff with the fetus funeral thing and Planned Parenthood is outta luck because of him (it's not all about abortion at PP---there's reproductive health, STI testing, etc).  We had significant isolated HIV outbreak due to intravenous drug use and he still doesn't want to look at drug use as a health issue instead of a criminal one (we should have a clean needle program).  There was a Religious Freedom bill that basically allowed discrimination (especially LGBT).  [Is there a "**** people who stick their head in the sand" emoji?]

Yet we have an openly gay mayor in South Bend, IN and Bloomington, IN is quite liberal and where Kinsey did his famous work on sexuality.  Oh and the Dalai Lama visits Bloomington as he has family there.  Indiana is a weird place.  

All this is to say, I cannot believe, trust, or support Atomic Orange (for numerous reasons) but also because of his running mate!  At the RNC, Angry Orange Man said he will protect LGBTQ (yes, even including the Q!) from foreign threats. Yet this is his running mate...the most local/domestic threat to LGBTQ, women and so forth.... 

If things go sour this November, I am selling all my ****, packing up my car with my bare necessities, my dog and cat and leaving to a friend's basement or across a border.  A common threat, to be sure, but screw all of this ****...so much backwardness that we will (regardless of the results in Nov). have to deal with for a time to come because of the pot that Atomic Orange has stirred.

TL;DR: Pence screwed up Indiana but Indiana is kinda cool, and reasons to not vote T***p. 

EDIT: According to Nate Silver's "FiveThirtyEight" site, Hilary keeps dropping each day.  Hope to see that change once we have a "debate."

They both do. Dem justices better on reproductive rights, privacy, separation of church state, free speech....Rep justices are better on gun rights, property rights.... With either party you cant win for losin. I prefer Dem justices though because I think the issues they're good on are more important and because the religious right has too much influence over who a Republican pres nominates.
