They go against everything this fanbase is all about, I don't like being mentioned alongside them at all. Little monsterism is about going against the grain, not conforming. I've honestly never cared if her music was commercial or chart-able, as long as she was giving her all and slaying my own eardrums. She's never really been a showpony, her happiness isn't disposable; I have always found her work the very best when she is confident in it, and the fact that these 'haters' keep acting as if she has something to prove is such a sick mentality. Like, c'mon, the accolades are never ending for her already and she hasn't even been in the game a decade. Don't know where you got the part that she blamed the mental breakdown partly on her fans from. Don't know why you generalise all those who like to watch charts and like to watch her be on top of the game, as people who only care for that aspect and do not decide who they are a fan of based on all other factors. But universally speaking, concerning everyone, I think this: Fan culture somehow changed sometime in 2014/15. The negativity and burdens that used to come from haters now come from fans. In some cases on purpose, in some unnoticed and unintended. In a way, fans are the new haters. What Gaga created with her fans was a wonderful thing, I'm glad I was able to experience that almost magic community at the monster ball and born this way ball. Now I'm not saying Gaga is not able to re-build that community, but I don't know whether she wants to or even should. I think she should focus on her work and be kind to those who support her. That's the most beautiful bond she can aspire to, her work comes first, then come the people around it who appreciate the work. The concept of the fan needs to vanish and be replaced by appreciators who neither try to subordinate nor superordinate themselves. Mutual appreciation, on the same level, face to face.
