Perfect Illusion Production Quality

I wonder what the hell all these producers did with Perfect Illusion.

I like PI but its production is very simplistic; by simplistic, I mean melody of the song is driven by vocals 100%. I am no professional by any means but it seems like PI could have been PI if it was produced by DJ White Shadow too. What value do you think all these 3 producers added to Perfect Illusion ?
I personally think these producers did not add a value that is unique and characteristic for them.

PS: I personally liked the production of PI; in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with PI's production. On the other hand, it has no special moments that I would expect from co-work of these 3 producers.

Honey, please don't answer like you score 500-600 on Critical Reading.

It is very clear that my question addresses whether these producers added special and unique value to Perfect Illusion. A value that represents them, a value that can only be added by them. I do not say that these producers did nothing.

I agree with you 100 percent. Still do not understand why exactly these producers were the go-to's for this track, especially Ronson being the main/executive producer on "Joanne". I have never thought his pop work was anything that knocks your socks off.

I think that Perfect Illusion could have been produced by anyone, RedOne, DJWS, etc. It's a good song but the production is nothing special.

If PI was produced by them it woulda been a record breaking BOP. :excuseu:

The instrumental is amazing. Repent now :diane:

Melody-wise, very generic I argue. There is a guitar melody at the beginning obviously added by Tame Impala but it sounds like a very generic chord, I feel like any other producer could come up with the same idea. There is no special moments in background music. A simple example to these "special moments" could be opening guitar melody of Californication.

I COMPLETELY disagree. I absolutely love the production, might be my favorite production from a Gaga record. The song is missing a good chorus and the vocals and production need blended, so I guess that last part is partially on the producers.

I respect your opinion. Only just to clarify, I like the production too; there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion. But on the other hand, I don't find anything special about it either; which I would expect from co-production of these 3 producers.

She should get  RedOne for the pop songs, uptempo songs and Mark Ronson for the ballads, mid/slow tempo songs but girl decided to do the opposite of what was logical :madge:

I appreciate the respect (and I of course value your opinion). Its definitely not super unique, but its definitely different than what is on radio right now. This album will sure be interesting

To me the weird thing in the production is in the chorus, when is starts and she says "it wasn't love", I notice a weird thing on the "love". The instrumental explodes on this word and the volume level of the voice/instrumental doesn't seem right, it's too violent. Am I the only one noticing this ?
