Joanne era not for the charts

I feel like the Joanne era was not made for the charts. Gaga is simply not aiming for top hits or top albums with this era. And is not like she was specifically aiming for top hits during the previous eras but this statement applies to Joanne more than ever. To me, it seems like Gaga simply wants to make the music that she wants. She really wants to tell her story this time around. And the result is music that is great, but not necessarily radio friendly or trendy. Now, she is promoting her music because she wants her music to be heard and because she has obligations from her label to do so. But it is quite obvious that Gaga lives in her own artistic world and not in the mainstream world.

REALITY

More people need to adopt this sort of mentality. Gaga will do what she wants to do, and that's it. If you're not into it, then maybe just wait around and maybe something will spark your interest. Charts are secondary and should not interfere with someone's love for the music and the artist.

For this era specifically, it's certainly not meant for the charts. The album is going to be very personal and very special to her: the goal and purpose of this album isn't to create massive hits, it's to share a part of her that she otherwise wouldn't necessarily share before.

EDIT - Responding to people who say that Gaga does care about the charts: speaking from management's and from her label's perspective, yes, they do matter. Obviously. However, when people make it a point to say that she's making these songs and albums in order to get higher positions on the charts, then you're sorely mistaken.

If that were the case, then she wouldn't have made C2C—I mean, why would you make a jazz album when you could have made a pop album that would have sold much more? Why then would she have taken a relatively long break from the mainstream music industry for so long? Obviously her team cares about the charts, but to think that she's making songs and albums just for the charts is wrong.

Miracle

I feel like in this era, despite some meltdowns, we're not rooting for the charts. Like, you know, the music will speak for itself and most of us are ready for it

Neither was the ARTPOP era and G2G era. I guess "No More Gaga" article from Paparazzi was right.:awkney:

Neither was any of her eras. But like I said, with Joanne she is really changing more than ever.

Idk why but your posts always remind me of someone in their English class writing an essay

anyway yea I really hope Gaga doesn't care about chart success this era because I really want this album to be one that we can look back on and say "this album was completely and totally what gaga wanted"

instead of how with other albums some fans claim that she was influenced by her label or charts at times

Gaga can't and shouldn't be tied down to what's trendy in the music industry. I love that's she's just doing her, being the truest version of herself, and not caring about what the critics will say. Can't wait for whatever she'll release on Joanne! :firega:

It seems like the album will be even less radio friendly than PI. This is based on the descriptions about the album Gaga gave us.
