Just kinda sad. At this point in her career, Madonna gave us Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Vogue, Blonde Ambition Tour...

And Gaga is going to give us Joanne. What is your point?

They're looking for excuses for flops.

''It's not radio friendly!''

''She doesn't care!''

''Music not the bling!''

Meanwhile Bobby was the first to tweet a pic of Gaga at #1 on iTunes with PI and Gaga mentioned she was #1 in over 60 countries during the iHeartRadio interview. But of course, they don't care.

So they are not allowed to be happy? And are those really excuses or reality?

My point is Perfect Illusion is no Like A Prayer... hopefully the album Joanne is everything we hope it is!

My point was right years into her career we are getting a boring flop single. I was comparing that to 8 years into Madonnas career when we got Like A Prayer.

Like a Prayer is also a confessional album about her life. How do you know Joanne isn't going to be same caliber? That's your own opinion regarding the single.

I wish charts does not matter, but it does, if you want to be nominated for grammys, vmas, amas, charts really matter.

I feel like the Joanne era was not made for the charts. Gaga is simply not aiming for top hits or top albums with this era. And is not like she was specifically aiming for top hits during the previous eras but this statement applies to Joanne more than ever. To me, it seems like Gaga simply wants to make the music that she wants. She really wants to tell her story this time around. And the result is music that is great, but not necessarily radio friendly or trendy. Now, she is promoting her music because she wants her music to be heard and because she has obligations from her label to do so. But it is quite obvious that Gaga lives in her own artistic world and not in the mainstream world.

Yes, she wants to make music that makes her feel happy. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If it does well in the charts, then that is a bonus! I want my Gaga to be happy. If she is happy then i'm happy. We as fans should respect her music! Cant wait until Oct 21st :)

Would you please stop with this nonsense. Everything Gaga makes is for the charts, she has a lot of people to pay, dogs to put through college, she needs money!

It may very well be, that is what I have been hoping for the past three years. perfect illusion doesn't come close to living up to gagas best singles, and as the first preview of her new album, my excitement has plummeted.

Whereas Like A Prayer remains one of the best and most iconic songs and albums of all time...

I never said they couldn't be happy. It just shows that they do care. It is no coincidence Bobby clocked the #1 in a matter of hours and Gaga knowing it topped the charts in over 60 countries shows that they both are perched and tracking its success (or floppage atm) as much as we do.

It might not be their ultimate goal (even though Bobby's pay check is likely influenced by Gaga's sales) but they definitely care.

She isn't a popstar, she's an artist

She was in her first 4 eras too but it didn't stop her from being pretentious and unwilling to put out music that sells

Plus the more chart success = the more singles = the more music videos. Do we really want a repeat of the AP era, only 2 videos in the span of 4 years? Really?

and i'm here for it, ala Lemonade, no hits, yet still Beyonce is still respected and considered an important artist, she is not called a flop at all, so why does gaga has to be, remember, she's already a living legend , she doesn't need another #1 to prove it

Exactly. She needs a big hit, or her marketing budget is gonna be smaller and smaller. One or two videos per album, smaller venues, need I go on?

She is not a living legend. Paula Abdul and Kylie Minogue are more legendary at this point. She needs this era to slay with some major hits, or she will be remembered as a relic from 08-11 who does jazz covers.
