shes naked on like every cover tbh

The Fame: not naked

The Fame Monster: not naked

BTW: not naked

ARTPOP: naked

C2C: definitely not naked

so again the question is legitimate. In ARTPOP she was givin birth so I can understand why she want to do a naked capture.

i really love the vibe of this picture and I feel it's ment to be something for her. She would just put a naked picture on the album named after her aunt just "why not".

Imaginery and Gaga are very deep field of interests in here. I wasn't bashing anything.

my question stays open: why is she naked?

This may be a reach, but kind of an interesting idea to explore... The poem 'For a Moment' written by Joanne and published in 'The Fame' booklet seems to hold parallels to the 'Joanne' album cover... especially when you think of it in the context of Gaga's life and career.

Full text of the poem is at the end of this post, but I want to call out these excerpts:

The poem begins:

Yesterday, I took a walk in the rain
The cool refreshing droplets splashed on my cheeks.
I walked,
And walked, And walked,
Not knowing where I was going.

And the poem ends:

I was the only living creature around.
The cool refreshing droplets splashed
On my cheeks. I turned,
And walked, And walked,
Knowing where I was going.

This poem almost summarizes where Gaga is in her life/career. In the beginning, she set out on this adventure lost, not knowing where she is going.

Now that she is 30, a full grown woman, she does know where she's going. But it is not in the direction we have known her as before.

On the album cover, Gaga is shown alone on a stark blue background, "turned" sideways (a definite contrast from her past album covers, which are all face forward). And she's the "only living creature around." Keyword: living. But she's looking to the sky, as if she's looking at Joanne's departed soul, in heaven.

It's as if she is at a turning point, reflecting on where she has been, but for the first time knowing where she is going. And she's going toward the spiritual light, and Joanne is inviting her into it.

Additionally, since this first appeared in 'The Fame' booklet, at Gaga's "beginning" it's fitting that she's referencing it once again, at the end of the persona we have known previously, as she "begins" again.

Pretty powerful when you think of it that way...

Full poem:

Yesterday, I took a walk in the rain
The cool refreshing droplets splashed on my cheeks.
I walked,
And walked, And walked,
Not knowing where I was going.
The trees swayed as a chilly spring
Gently caressed their branches.
A cute white rabbit scampered
Across a wide open field.
He stopped in front of me in a
Patch of emerald.
He had a quizzical look on his furry little face.
He wiggled his ears,
Crinkled his nose,
And scratched his whiskers like
An old man.
I started to laugh.
He ran off into the distance
Looking like a pearl in a patch of seaweed.
The cool refreshing droplets splashed
On my cheeks.
I walked,
And walked, And walked,
Not knowing where I was going.
I saw a family of ducks on a lake,
I stopped to look,
Mama Duck first,
And all the little ducklings gliding
Behind her in a single file.
They were dancing to the music
of the rain tapping on water.
And then I was my reflection on
the mirror-like surface of the lake
And for a moment…
I was the only living creature around.
The cool refreshing droplets splashed
On my cheeks. I turned,
And walked, And walked,
Knowing where I was going.
