It's a grower only to a certain point; then you realize over half the song is the same chorus repeated and it gets a bit tiring.

Maybe you're just already tired? Have you been taking a daily nap recently?

My favourite artists are Mariah Carey and Florence. Both artists make music that is WAY more RAW AND EMOTIONAL than Perfect Illusion.Nice try though. Next time try to not jump to stupid conclusions without knowing someone

Every time I listen to it, I feel the rush of adrenaline Gaga talked about.

I still can't believe how great Gaga is at triggering adrenaline. Even after years, songs like Applause give me a rush. :woohoo:

I am pretty happy that she is changing and I would never want her to go back to her old style.I just think that this specific song IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.Is it horrible? No. It's just not good enough for her standards. I am still looking foward to the album with excitement. This SITE that you are a NEW member on is not for Lady Gaga's sheeps. It's for people that love her and appreciate her but are also people and they have their own opinions. And yes YOU ARE. You mentioned Britney Spears without me mentioning her. I just kept the name Britney Spears because that's the name people here know me now with and I don't feel like changing it again. My taste in music and my personal choices are still non of your business though :) Thank you

honestly the song is still changing until the end

after the 2 verses we get a really wonderful bridge, followed but a key change, and then an outro :awkney:

Why are you guys obsessed over the key change? Most of you didn't even know what a key change WAS until people realized it was the only major thing worth talking about with the song...

All a key change is is singing a chorus in a different key. It's been done a thousand times before, especially during the disco era.

The bridge is her singing the chorus. Then the key change is the chorus. Then the outro uses the chorus AGAIN. What happened to the Gaga that filled every song with multiple hooks and melodies and verses?

That's because you probably had a preconceived idea of what it should sound like, so you're consistently dissatisfied with it. The GP will (hopefully) be more open to a different sound once they hear it on the radio enough times.

I like to think the song has longevity like Applause. It may not crack the top 5, but with the right promo it could stick around.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

I really didn't have one.I just believe that the song is too weak.It only has 2-3 hooks (compared to her older songs that have at least 5 in every song) and even those hooks are repeated to death and they are not even that good. I was actually totally open about a new sound and I still am (on the album). Applause is a great song imo and this is why it had such a huge longevity despite being totally weird in terms of lyrics and message

we're clutching at straws.... first it was going to be a smash, #1 etc... then it was going to be #2 behind Closer or whatever, now it's a grower with longevity... next thing you know, charts and longevity won't matter, because PI is a misunderstood avant-garde art piece...

It's a wrong choice for the first single and that's becoming more and more obvious even to stans... hopefully, it will be downgraded to a buzz promo, and we'll put this into 'fan favorite' folder with Venus.

The key change, while subtle, is eargasmic and very satisfying. A recent article discussed how she's a songwriting genius; she engineered the song perfectly such  that the key change, mathematically speaking, occurs at the perfect time in the song. It's why so many feel a surge during it and/or right as she changes the key.

its very bold and ballsy at a time when pop listeners fiend for a big "drop"

the mistaken for loves that make up the bridge aren't the same thing as singing the chorus imho.
