One word: Cancer. Cancer cells are considered to be immortal because unlike our normal cells which are programmed to die, cancer cells can continue to divide indefinitely (if I recall correctly). I believe scientists already developed a way to by-pass our natural 'programming' so our cells can continue to divide long after the limit, but the problem is testing. It's unethical because it can lead to the formation of tumours in test subjects. The most likely reason why our cells are programmed to die is, as you've mentioned, to reduce the likelihood of developing genetic errors when splitting. We never said that And if aging was slowed of course ud look younger longer If u didnt look younger longer then that means your cells would be deteriorating just as fast and in turn ud die just as young.
