She is too creative for jazz and rock?

You need to listen to some music other than pop... These genres have plenty of creative elements, more so than pop I would say.

Currently listening to Joanne

she doesn't have a disdain for pop music in general, just a disdain for what it and the industry have turned themselves into.

in my opinion, sh is insecure of the music she makes so she tries hard to give it some special meaning that isn't there. First it was art. Now it's rock or something. She wants to be something she's not.

You never see her be so pretentious about her vocal abilities. Simply because she's self confident about her voice and vocal abilities.

my main concern is that she is gonna damage her voice from too much PI :saladga:

I had this thought too. Love the song but if the whole album is like this, idk how she's gonna tour with it. Especially if she continues smoking.

Her music has never strayed far from the typical guidelines of pop. At what point has she talked down about pop music? She says the things that everyone else thinks. It can be manufactured, generic, lifeless but that doesn't mean she doesn't play the game as well. Born This Way was about "pop culture as religion" according to Gaga, ARTPOP was about breathing art back into pop. She's never been anti-pop and Perfect Illusion is no different.

I think it's more the particular industry and culture surrounding it that she is highly critical of- both in praise and in disdain.

This was fairly visible in her first three albums and its respective promotion, but definitely emphasized come ARTPOP.

u can't make a MV as Alejandro or BR for a jazz song because u have to restraint the visual impact and let the voice lead and in Rock the instruments where in Pop u are free from any boundaries. (U just can't put nazi or religious hints in a jazz song for example .)

Gaga has always said that she never wants to be confined to a box. And the pop music industry is one giant box that shifts from time to time. When Gaga debuted in 08' she changed pop music and thus the box went with her. And in 09' she did it again with perfecting, what really is only just now changing, the sound and feel of "pop music". I believe she's doing it again. Right now with Perfect Illusion. The song has a vibe that I honestly haven't gotten from her since Bad Romance.

Pop may be her "best side" because she got all of her sales and her aknowledgement from pop music. Personally, I believe that she's better as a rock persona because that's what she grew up on. Her influences and the music she listened to and grew up with was rock music, not pop music--aside from maybe Madonna.

Plus, she has an incredible voice for the genre :hor:
