Or...just allow people to be dissatisfied.

There is no point in forcing ourselves to like a song. You either like it or not.

There are songs that do grow on you but it should usually take 2-3 listens for it to grow on you and not several days. That's just forcing yourself to like a song you wouldn't even bothering listening to if it wasn't Lady Gaga.

People have different tastes and that's completely fine. There is still the album that's coming.

it has been scientifically proven that you'll automatically start to like a song if you hear it often. That's why the radio is such a huge influence on peoples listen behaviour.

I hated a lot of BTW and ARTPOP songs until I actually let the whole album play.

i only started appreciating Fashion of His Love, The Queen late last year. Paper Gangsta took about 5 years before I willingly played it. Tracks between ARTPOP and Applause were often skipped until mid 2015. I skipped Jewels N Drugs EVERYTIME but it's now among my favorite ARTPOP tracks.

What fans were waiting for :

- Dance/pop song
- Something different, yet that feels home
- Gaga's vocals
- Catchy song, with a strong hook/bridge

What Gaga gave to her fans :

- Dance/pop song
- Something different, yet that feels home
- Gaga's vocals
- Catchy song, with a strong hook/bridge
- Good promo

Yet they are still unsatisfied! I can never understand them

I think that's the best advice to give. It'll only work for fans, though. This kind of strategy rarely works for the public at large, though it's not impossible. It's merely a good strategy if you're a superfan who's not as keen on your fave's new work. I've had to do this with Gaga songs before. In general, I really struggle to like lead singles, even by my faves because they're usually the most generic song on the album, as befits the start of an album campaign, when you want to get the public onside. I rest easy in the hope that the album will be better. I agree that singing along or singing it solo can really help. Or even try to re-interpret the lyrics to match with a situation in your life. While I don't have a relationship to be mourning over, I think the chorus certainly helps suit my current situation with paranoia and anxiety. It's about realising that the thoughts I get into my head are nothing but pointless paranoia, something that is not worth my time, effort or worry and that I just need to evacuate and delete it from my brain. Applying that theory makes it a much more personal song for me.

3) Wait for the music video.

If number 2 doesn't work, this will be the last thing I beg of you to do. Please just wait for the visuals. You'll know for sure that the music isn't your taste if even Gaga's visuals couldn't turn your views around. As I said, this will be better if you followed number 1 religiously.

This one in particular shouldn't be underestimated. I have seen quite a few videos in my time that woke me up to how good a song was. I know in some cases, that it can be, a 'perfect illusion,' as it were, as there are videos out there that are purposefully made to be amazing to make up for a bad song and it can fool you into thinking the song is good. If you need the visuals to think it's good, you've been fooled. But if you can still think it's good without the visuals afterwards, it can be a sign that the visuals woke you up to a song's potential.

Well to start, the OP was aimed really at fans who don't get it and who want to like the song not the GP  Nice to see that my tips make sense to you. The visuals really are a BIG part of music especially today. The visuals and music are almost intertwined to the point of automatic association in our minds. Just look at Lemonade. The songs aren't catchy but the visuals, oh man, the visuals put the music in a whole other level.

Also, I agree with your point about applying the song to circumstances in your own life. This is also the reason why Applause can only be viewed like an artpiece from the outside. Nobody can relate to being a fame hungry superstar. Perfect Illusion, on the other hand, can be applied to anyone. Just a while ago, I was thinking about this person I really REALLY liked whom I thought had feelings for me too but a drunken confession from her proved that nothing can ever happen between us. It just shattered the "perfect illusion" I set up in my head. I've been lowkey hoping something would happen for ten years. TEN YEARS. It's sad to shatter that illusion and the hurt in the song fits my feelings now. But the song is also so layered. When I sing it, I just don't feel the hurt, but I also feel the liberation. The anger flows from my lungs to the air around me and I feel so much better. We can never be together and I am now free from my own prison I put in my mind. This song... This song is amazing :D

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
