But thinking back to my first listen I would have said: Soaring, classic-Gaga melodic vocals over a driving dance beat with muted synth that really brings your focus to the vocals and poignant lyrics, where it belongs. Did she say that? I didn't even know lol but that's how I hear the song, she never stops singing for more than 5 seconds, the beat, the transitions between the parts of the song. Good produciton, but the song fail to have a distinct, melodic and strong chorus, instead of just a stanza with more pumped vocals, which volume is way higher in this supposed chorus. Perfect intro and outro, to which the noticable key change gives a great energy; but those are just perfect illusions, because the rest of the song is not that rock, nor dance, nor pop, but a mixture of these genres that appears more as a vocals exhibition than as a dance anthem or 'a rock song that gives you a punch in the face'. Too ripetitive, vocals not always on point, too belting, just too much. BUT I'm not a music expert nor a music critic, so it takes me more than just a listen to "understand" the music. But that would habe been what I would have wrote after just ONE listen. Do you wanna know what I now think of PI? An INCREDIBLE pop-rock song, with a dance heart. Everything is on point, the vocals, the production, the instrumental, the slayage of the new perfect flawless bop of Lady Gaga. Listen to it, it will slay you back and forth to Venus. You'll love it, you'll love the forcefull vocals of Mother Monster, those perfect belting amd those flawless vocals exhibition. And, thanks to it being mixed perfectly with the instrumental, Perfect Illusion is nor just an illusion, because Gaga can sing, and sings perfectly well, and cam write hits, and Perfect Illusion is a perfect hit.
