Does anyone else feel like this is a calm precursor?

...like this is her Work Work Work, her Shake It Off? (not talking about chart positions/success-wise as it is too early for that)

Like, something safe and palatable enough to be introductory for this new album? She's working with Beck, Flo, and Father John Misty, so this will likely be different for sure, and I feel like the rest of the album is going to be really, really interesting, and this song might be a cute gateway drug.

I wouldn't really compare PI to those or call it safe...

Please correct me if I make any grammar mistakes, I want to master English as much as possible.

Yeah, but I mean, safe for Gaga. Like, I feel this is simple for her, the writer of Venus and it's millions of hooks, the woman of the rah rah ah ah's etc.

Yeah I sort of hope with Kevin Parker the album will delve more into that psychedelic rock sound. Loving Perfect Illusion but kinda wish it had a bit more edge and character.

The collaborations with Beck and Florence have me as hyped as ever. Really excited to hear the entire album, I expect it will be really incredible. Perfect Illusion feels like a teaser of what's to come.

I think I get what you're saying, but we won't really know until we get the full album, and even then it might be a difficult comparison.

I wouldn't say it's a 'safe' single, it already has mixed reactions from EVERYONE, even LMs.

So I really dk how successful PI will even be. I'm just enjoying the song right now, & hopefully the album will be released by Nov, I don't really care much about chart positions atm.

I'm hopeful for a Grammy nomination for PI next year though.

those hooks are what make a pop song safe though.

Yeah I agree, because they are 'memeable' & funny-sounding

Yeah this is like the opposite of safe, this is a risk but one I think will pay off with the GP. Showcases a different side of her.

they also get you 'hooked'... that's why they are...hooks :toofunny:

Surprised at the amount of people saying they wouldn't think PI is 'safe'. I don't use the word in a horrible way, but with the likes of Kevin Parker I would have expected something with a richer soundscape. I kinda expected more.

I would say it's risky in the sense that it's a new direction for Gaga, and I do like PI, but I do feel like this is a relatively safe single in terms of the people she is working with. Maybe it's cause I'm Australian, like obviously if you are Australian you have listened to Tame Impala and PI would have been seen as a kinda watered down version of their other work if it was released by them.

I don't mean that as shade to PI to be clear, it's a great song, it just feels more like a teaser for a richer main course.

I honestly just said this is probably like Shake It Off and we are going to be taken back by second single and album.
