This reminds me of when Daft Punk released Get Lucky

I'm a huge Daft Punk fan and I remember the anticipation for Random Access Memories being  through the ROOF.

When get lucky was released no one thought it was real. There was so many people saying "this is just a demo, they're release the real one soon" and it never happened.

Im not going to force anyone to like what they don't like, but RAM went on to win Album of the year because they took a risk and owned it. Gaga isn't comfortable staying a pop girl forever, this is literally the girl who started her career dancing in ripped fishnets and lighting **** on fire. She loves rock and roll, she is willing to take that risk and she's owning it and giving it her all.

im proud of her-- yes she will disappoint some people, and that's completely valid, but she just loves to make music and isn't afraid to take real risks. The BTW album was a huge risk, ARTPOP was a huge risk, this is also one. She's moving forward.

I'm proud of her too, I just wish it was better executed.

Please correct me if I make any grammar mistakes, I want to master English as much as possible.

Why do you view things as "risks"? It's just music good lord! She won't release The Fame Monster again and people should just get over themselves.

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

Get Lucky was better without pharell tbh :rip:

But this is a new sound, and not everything is love at first site. After a few days I'm sure everyone will feel their scalp bleeding.

PI is not that risky though... It belongs to a genre that is very GP friendly. The radios will eat it up

I view them as risks because as an artist, creating something that's not the "popular" thing on the radio is a huge gamble. You have no idea how they'll react. In daft punks case, they went from electronic repetitive beats to organic sounds, live instruments and ballads. In gagas case, she has jumped from pop to jazz to classical to rock and roll. It's a huge range and pretty crazy how effortless it is (even if some people don't particularly like certain styles)

That's only partially true, alienating your fan base to go in a different direction is risky as hell.

I think it's fair to call it a 'risk' it's a risk for any artist to go out of their comfort zone and try something new, especially when in the spotlight in the way Gaga is

Gaga could have released the music she did with RedOne, but she didn't she worked with new producers on a song/album that she knew was very different from what she was known for. It's not just a commercial risk, it's an artistic risk. She has been pretty comfortable in the electro-pop realm, she could have poured out her heart into something completely different and have it completely rejected commercially and critically.

It's also a risk for them to repeat themselves, it's a risk not to renew yourself. Everything IN LIFE in general is a risk.

Well, taking risks is part of life. We all take risks in our lives, some pay off, some don't. It helps us grow as people, and helps artists grow as artists. It's all about experimentation and branching out rather than remaining stationary. I see no shame in describing albums or songs as "risky." I think it's commendable to describe as such.

Well sure, but arguably another record with RedOne would be a more comfortable and familiar space for Gaga to explore. I just don't see why it's objectionable for people to call it a risk and I'm not sure what it has to do with her not releasing stuff like The Fame Monster

I mean I think Perfect Illusion is a pretty commercial song, but I just don't think there is a need to kick up a huff over people saying it's risky, that's all :) You talked as if calling the single risky was a bad thing, I think it's evidence of growth. You need to take risks to grow, you need to try something new.

Her vocals at about 2:25 until fade out just gives me chills fr and the key change. . . :air:

It was a perfect illusion. . . somewhere in. . all the confusion. You were so perfect, you were a, you were a perfect illusion !!!

I'm completely here for it. First listen and all. While the leak was indeed real it didn't do the song any justice. This is Gaga and I'm happy she's really showing her range for the GP.
