This song really got me wondering what the **** Taylor has done to Gaga

She made it sound like it was a mutual understanding.  I don't think there's bad blood.

That was my opinion before the song came :emma:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

:saladga: WHAT. Where are you getting that? :laughga:

The song made things sound far worse than I had thought.

Although it most likely is fictional for the most part. And there are bits from Kevin in there as well.

( I keep telling myself that to calm down.... It's true though. )

I hope it's not completely based on her relationship with Taylor. It kind of puts more salt to that wound, that's one of the (few) problems I have with this song. That it's just heartbreaking! She said she'll keep revisiting that moment every time she sings it and I don't want that for her at all.

One of the reasons I love Applause (and also BTW, Just Dance) is that they are such joyous and celebratory songs but PI makes me upset every time I think deeply about it.

The concept was originally presented by Kevin and he co-wrote it so I hope it's half his story too. I'd love to hear him sing it, omg. :diane:

I don't think it's completely about Taylor. As you said, Kevin contributed to the song too. Also when Gaga talked about Perfect Illusion in Berlin, she presented it in such a vague way in my opinion. (Above all, it is about all the fake things that appear to be genuine. And how to handle it. Whether this is a relationship and love - or the social networks where you can scroll through endless pictures of perfect illusions. Try to figure out what is righteous and what is not - that it concerns us all now.)

Don't mind a lot about the meaning, just enjoy the music and her godly voice at least for now :)

The lyrics don't seem at all hateful to me. To me it just sounds like pain coming from something that was too good to be true

The song just sounds like a lot of pain coming from the fact that what they had was too good to be true. It's just her expressive way of dealing with it imo

The social media one is so hard to connect to with the song. :laughga: I think the fact that the song is so straightforward, in your face and easy to understand (as opposed to being vague like most of her songs) makes it hard to interpret into something else. Which is great though, that makes it really gp friendly (and they sure eat up love/heartbreak songs).

Most of her songs have lines where one makes sense and you get what she's talking about but the next line throws you off completely. That's not the case with PI, it sounds like a breakup song inside out.

Just an observation. I don't mind it. :hor:

Yeah, thank god it's a bop. I absolutely LOVE the chorus and verses! It's amazing how she reinvented her music sonically, it doesn't sound like anything she's done before tbh. Sometimes it's a bit too 80s for me but I'm over it.

And it's such a good song to sing to! I can't wait to scream it out loud!

Spoiler

IT WASNT LOOOOOVE, IT WASNT LOOOOVE :sara:

I actually hadn't thought of it like that. :oprah:

She wouldn't have said "It wasn't love" if that was the case tho.

But it's still possible! :sara:
