Stan Lee shades the DC Movies (drops mic)

During a Q&A session at Fan Expo Canada, an audience member asked Lee a reasonable question, “How do you think DC can make a hit with critics?" Considering the critical trashing Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad received, it’s not an unfair inquiry. And when you factor in how much Lee knows about the genre, why not go to the expert? With the question teed up, Lee perhaps recalled Ayer’s “f-bomb” and dropped a zinger all his own.

"Let me write it,” Lee answered. The response was met with a roar of applause and a boom of laughter.

I think it is crazy how Marvel gets amazing reviews and DC is trashed. For me they are at the same level of entertainment. (yeah, these movies have amazing special effects and soundtracks, also they are entertaining, but that's it, its nothing more. )

BUT The Dark Knight Trilogy is better than most, if not all, Marvel Movies...not to mention that, you know Marvel, there IS a time to give things a break, like how many more Spider Man movies do we actually need?

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

It's so weird because as far as mood and aesthetics, DC ****ing rules. I love a good bit of their movies but it's just the script. The script isn't totally bad but the writing for Marvel is far superior. If they model everything off of the Batman Trilogy their movies would be untouchable.

Stan Lee is a thief, plain and simple. There are more talented people in that business even from his time who deserve the recognition and fame he has today.

One day people will recognize that he's a fraud, maybe then his betters will get what they deserve.

He can suck a ****, cause I loved BvS and SS (MoS not so much, but I never liked Superman, so yeah).
As a comics reader, I REALLY enjoyed them, while Marvel movies really bore me (Except for Ant-Man and GotG, those were awesome!)

Maybe he's a little bit angry that DC comics sales are better than Marvel right now? :classy:

Yeah, but he was taking about the DCEU. And that's precisely the problem DC has shown they can make quality movies, as evidenced by TDK trilogy, but for some reason they are not able to :emma:

The failed Spider Man reboot wasn't Marvel's fault though, Sony controlled the character on its own until they struck the deal with Marvel a couple of years ago

Well, mainstream American films are generally **** and I doubt Stan Lee, of all people, could make them better. :rip:

The Dark Knight trilogy was one director's vision and is seperate from the current DC universe..

Spider-Man was previously owned by Sony and all 5 previous films weren't part of the Marvel universe.

I won't bash super hero movies too much, they have their purpose, but honestly Marvel movies often lack any interesting direction. Where Marvel have been smart is with their patience.

Marvel have created a brand and set of movies for all these characters. We had the Iron Man movies, we had Captain America movies, we had Thor movies. The benefit of this was that:

#1 they could sell a bunch of kids toys
#2 the solo movies also worked as sort of advertisements for The Avengers
#3 When The Avengers came they didn't need to waste valuable screen time with multiple character expositions for all the main characters.

Compare that with Suicide Squad. A movie full of famous characters, but none of the main cast had been in any of the DC movies prior. They have to suddenly introduce all the characters and provide backstories for them. You have to introduce The Joker (arguably the most famous and loved super villain) Harley Quinn (a fan favourite character), Deadshot (played by Will Smith...), Enchantress (Played by Cara Delevingne), Amanda Waller (Played by Viola Davis) and so on...

If they had made a solo Affleck Batman movie featuring The Joker and Harley Quinn, maybe even including Amanda Waller, then they could have had a Batman Vs Superman with a familiar Batman and a Suicide Squad with a familiar Joker/Harley Quinn. You suddenly don't have to spend so much of the movie explaining the backstories of these characters and can focus on a unique and interesting story.

Marvel also took the risk of going R rated with Deadpool, something that Suicide Squad should have been also.

But in fairness, look at the first time Marvel had Deadpool. Those terrible Wolverine movies... They bounced back from that, DC can bounce back from this.
