Prepare for the receipts ... Spoiler 1. Haunted was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who also directed Paparazzi and Telephone, the latter the continuation of the former. 2. Haunted was shot in the same house as Paparazzi, the Villa de Leon in Malibu, California. 3. References to Just Dance Same blue lighting arrow on the same eye. 4. References to Poker Face Figures around a poker table. 5. References to Bad Romance Both used a sphynx cat. -- Both featured women grinding on a man in position of power that ended up killing/tearing apart. 6. References to Bubblega 7. References to Telephone Same security camera footage idea with similar treatment. -- Use of the military hat with the Pu$$y Wagon colors coupled with ... Boots styled like the American flag. 8. References to Alejandro Similar hooded garment with religious overtones. 9. References to Born This Way Ball Ram-inspired headwear. 10. References to Marry the Night The same concept of a medical institution with mint green ("And I also believe that mint will be very big in fashion next spring.") in the backdrop. In the backdrop, sounds of hysterical laughter also plays. 11. Haunted also featured Lady Gaga impersonator, Edward Vigiletti. #ladygaga was a hashtag in his Instagram post of him on set. 12. References to Gaga's Performance with the Rolling Stones Long weaves and black-and-white striped pantsuits. And with some background on the song's meaning: The latter track – “Haunted” – describes her relationship with her image and her past, relating them as “ghosts” or things that follow her around consistently, a shadow of what they once were. I wonder: does she regret working with Gaga? Despite the fact that Telephone was a commercial hit, it was the epitome of mindless, albeit catchy pop music. I mean, it was written for Britney and even she rejected it. Especially given the fact that Haunted was paired with Ghost, a song about reclaiming her sense of artistry with the album, as a single track, did Beyonce shade Gaga? Bey is notoriously respectful of everyone (one of the many reasons she's lasted so long), and took the time out to wish Gaga a Happy Birthday in early 2014, only months after Self Titled dropped.
