I guess the pixeled / neon aesthetics were just for that, aesthetics? I suppose. The whole digital fruit thing was a play on organic vs. synthetic. Thus why she named her tour the neon nature tour, like herself, she integrates both artificial and real elements. the album contains a live band (which she'd never done before) and of course electronics. etc. etc. Dont get me wrong though, I definitely think its her most cohesive and adult record, but as much as I enjoy it I can understand why some people might find it dull. Its a very neutral record, she reigned in the absurdity of TFJ and the conceptually knotted theatrics of Electra and made something really clean cut and meticulous, it can therefore understandably come off a little boring and soft rock for those that prefer the raw imperfectness of the first album or the top 40 glam pop makeover she took on in the second. Personally I love The Family Jewels and all of its messiness.

I think in the broad scope of things Electra Heart is actually very underrated. And yes.
