So y'all can act like I'm stupid or whatever but this is the culture that hateful ugly people like Brenden perpetuate. While a MAN is dressed up as a woman at the VMAs for laughs, actual trans people are being killed in the streets. Night y'all. Men have been dressing up as women for laughs for literally 500 years. Look at Little Britain, where most of the skits were them dressing up as women. They weren't mocking trans people, they were just playing characters. Look at Brandon Rogers, one of the fastest rising YouTube channels atm, most of his comedy comes from portraying women. Most people find this humour funny because of the absurdity of it, they don't for a second think its mocking trans women. Crossdressing humour is here to stay, whether you like it or not. 08, 09, 11, 13, 16,

(funny for so, so many reasons, particularly the Donald Trump "law and order" rhetoric he has been spewing lately! Great comedic writing in this clip)

When he hits, it makes me literally cackle with laughter! Whether or not you enjoy his jokes, you have to admit his comedic timing is BRILLIANT. He's got a great talent. I love seeing him break through to the mainstream and collaborating with professional production teams/comedy writers, etc... He's only got a few months left before people get tired of the act, but I'm really hoping he can diversify and keep it going.

I believe the primary reason is this: our "reaction gif" culture. His videos make PERFECT reaction gifs, and that is how the awareness spread. Beyond that, you start watching his actual videos, and see he actually has comedic talent. While the "writing" is hit or miss, he actually succeeds in creating the Joanne persona masterfully. And his comedic timing is 2nd to none (timing being a key talent of any good comedian) His own talents aside, a huge part of it is cultural timing. It's 2016 when the "black lives matter" movement has shone a huge spotlight on "white privilege" ... and "Joanne" scamming his/her way into achieving "white privilege" is the core theme behind this character. It's a brilliant dichotomy... It mocks all the cliche beliefs of rich "white lady" culture. While also mocking the cliche beliefs of underprivileged culture ("scams" and "heists" etc...). Because he is mocking both sides equally, and his personal life gives him experience in both (he's a black guy who was raised by an adoptive white family), he has credibility to speak on the subject. He can get away with things that other comedians couldn't, because he can do it all without coming off as offensive. In short, he helps ALL OF US laugh at ourselves.
