Honestly I love the song but I doubt it will ever hit #1 no matter what promo she does. She could have easily put out a generic pop song like JT did with his comeback. I'm glad she released this song instead because she's still taking risks. I don't have to worry about having a meltdown if it doesn't go #1 because it's not a crazy pop song like we expected. I'm happy just blasting it in my car and having no expectations with chart success. I like that it's different. 3 years ago I would have been upset. How times have changed :-).

I feel the same tbh. If it fell out of the top ten like a flaming sack of **** I would probably just shrug and say "maybe next time". If it was 2011 I'd be having a serious meltdown whilst trying to make an excuse for it. It's fun to track the song and celebrate the good parts, but my stanning doesn't revolve around that. How times have changed indeed...

It would be so easy. So super easy for her to release something with the same formula as the other songs that are hot right now. Even when she knows her commercial power is at stake, she still refuses to conform to that and I'll always love and respect her for it.

It's funny because I kept saying I didn't expect her to hit #1, that she'd fall quickly, etc yet every red update feels like a small disappointment :rip:

It's holding well in Italy though. She's already snatched a big hit in Brazil, too. Here's to hoping she can make this single happen in the US/UK/Germany.

I just want to hear this song when I am shopping, in a club or in a car :toofunny: happy she takes artistic integrity over commercial success though, and I know the live performances this era will be her best yet.

I think US/UK this will become a pretty big hit for her and be fairly global. granted the rock edge won't work in every market so we will have some countries that don't connect.

Applause had done better on Day 2:

8/14/13: LADY GAGA Applause: 19.918 (+5.175)

Wait and see...

Do we have spins? AI is less important early on since one station could make a huge difference.

The fall was entirely predictable... as were the meltdowns. Feels just like the good ol' days Bry. :emma:

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, this has happened since LoveGame in UK back in 2009. :rip:

I think for comparison, by this point, Applause was out of the Top 100 and Gaga was typing in all caps about a stalker breaking into her apartment.

I don't think it will help. Radio spots don't really give instant boosts on iTunes and it's not a particularly popular show anyway. If it's falling at this rate it'll just fall.

We need a video really.

@MintRoyale
Gaga sales after day 1 fan action are scraping into the top 10 levels, and if her streaming is as low she could struggle for top 20.

Jesus Christ. Is there actually a limit to her free fall :emma:

I did come to expect a sluggish start but never did I think Gaga had potential to debut outside top 20, like, ever :sharon: then again that's just me tho.

Tbh I thought the streaming drop in the UK was a little disappointing but I've never tracked streaming before so I don't know how it works. However some folks on Buzzjack (chart geeks) seem to say that a drop on day 2 for a new release in streaming is normal after fan rush/general curiosity, kinda like on iTunes I guess. So that's a slice of hope to hold onto I suppose.
