I remember when DWUW was announced as the second single, and all the monsters were going CRAZY on twitter about a song they haven't heard. It was a war. And you're right when you say it is for the better I think. She'll always have a deep bond with her fans and I think she'll show support to them, however, I do think there were times where she got too close and too invested which ultimately ended up hurting her. Not only she gets hurt, but I also think it creates in the fans this false sense of ownership, which is why they're so prone to promoting her (which some of us think to be embarrassing, but it's at least pretty innocuous), but it's also the reason they scrutinize everything she does and says, it's why we have so many "little managers", it's why some of us get so personally offended when anything is said about her and end up turning little things that no-one would care or ever know about into these huge debates... Gaga reached out to him with a video when he appeared to be missing and there were comments on twitter he may have tried to commit suicide. Then a few of his former monster friends released lenghty video statements calling him a liar and shared their bad experiences with him on video for Gaga to see. Sloan, who was training Gaga at the time, replied to them on facebook saying how disappointed and disgusted she was by them exposing Ryan like that and she had no respect for it. Kinda felt she was speaking for Gaga as well. I've personally seen Gaga be very stern to a fan who got a picture with her outside a hotel, walked to the other side of the line to get another and she said: Didn't you already get one? And gave him this super fierce look and nod. It's awesome cause many times she doesn't get the chance to be that aware anymore cause the crowds get so big and hysterical. I've seen her get upset when we were waiting for her at her hotel after the BTWB. There was only about 8 people there. She arrived looking very excited but was jumped by two girls who apeared out of nowhere just grabbing her to take a picture (while we were all standing patiently behind a small fence) Then a bunch of paparazzi popped up (flown over from the UK, normally there's few to none here in Amsterdam) and it became a big ball of people with Gaga stuck in the middle. Her bodyguards literally had to pull her arm to get her out and they went straight for the door. Minutes later Peter came out and told us Gaga was really sad and disappointed about what just happened and that she was crying. She was really looking forward to say hi to that small group of fans but two greedy girls ruined it for her and us. Gaga had hotelstaff bring out pizza (with one slice missing) and tea. So sweet. In general I think it genuinely hurts her feelings when her fans don't treat other fans with respect, or even her and are just plain selfish. . I didn't know about any of these (though I think I have vague memories of the Sloan incident) but I have heard similar stories from friends in NYC who said she's been disappointed in greedy fans before when it came to photos and treating other fans badly.
