and that only exclusivity agreements of a week or more are currently being targeted.

So what if Gaga's deal was an exclusive for a week, so she's affected. :oprah:

Tbh, I really don't care if it would be Apple exclusive or whatever. We've been waiting this for years and we don't deserve this kind of drama again. :madge:

the only bad thing that could sprawl out of an exclusive deal with Apple Music would be Spotify's vengeance towards Gaga utilising the opponents streaming service before theirs.

as stated by Billboard, "they might “bury” your act or “not promote your artist and that can be extremely damaging."

this was proven with Rise's performance and exposure on Spotify - she wasn't added on any playlists with more than 750k+ listeners*, nor was she featured on any advertisement/new releases banner.

---

as a Spotify user, i don't think i'd switch to Apple Music just because Gaga's releasing on their platform; especially if i'm satisfied on Spotify.

out of curiosity, would you guys change/join to Apple Music because Gaga's exclusively releasing on there?

I don't know, I just can't see a major company trying to "bury" an artist because she joined with the competition. All they care about is money and I'm sure LG5 would bring them quite a lot of money in streaming. Why would they write her off out of vengeance when they could still use her for $$$?

And no, I would absolutely not change to Apple Music. I have downloaded a huge amount of songs on Premium Spotify over several years and I think it's a great service that I have no intention of leaving. I will download Apple Music's free trial just to listen to the lead single/LG5, but I will be deleting it as soon as it is available elsewhere. Either that or I will download it through other means....

There is absolutely nothing in this deal to benefit the people who actually consume the music. It is a selfish, money-driven, corporate move from Gaga and I'm utterly astonished that she's doing this. "Music not the bling" my ass.

Haha I was obsessed with that show and I live for Sarah Michelle Gellar's facial expressions, hence the gifs. :laughga:

The way I read it, they won't keep it off Spotify, just off its free tier. As a matter of fact, off all free tiers on all streaming platforms out there.

Nope. Spotify doesn't allow artists and labels from having their music available only for Premium users. That's the whole issue with Spotify.

I don't agree tbh but it's all personal opinion anyway :)

I think Spotify has the most streamlined and best user interface. Although personally, I use Google Play Music because I had it from the beginning so it's cheaper for me and I get to upload all music I own that's not available for streaming (1989 for example) and make it available for streaming for me. Apple Music has that option too now but you have to go through iTunes for it.

I'm against a streaming exclusive. Like I hope Gaga stays the fk away from it. It's so awful.

Gaga already had a deal/exclusive with apple under her belt tho

The artist still has to get some profit out of it hun, it's her job and it's probably the label and probably not Gaga who decided this because A) They want less pirated songs B) No money = no music and C) Spotify doesn't give **** to the artist. Imagen you didn't get payed enough for your work and then suddenly decides to change company? It doesn't do anything to the consumers but you get the money you deserve!

I'll lose so much respect in Gaga if she makes an Apple Music exclusive. Only money hungry people do that :icega:

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

How is an exclusive gonna make less pirated songs? Most people who don't use Apple Music are likely to download it instead of signing up for Apple Music.
