I'm mixed. It had the DNC and Olympics behind it, and two music videos, the song just didn't do amazingly on streaming platforms. But it is still technically a buzz single so there shouldn't be much weight on it. Simply an underperformance, just to shut the Cats that were saying that anything she releases would be an instant hit.

edit: But to be honest I don't like saying that people are over or not, like nobody's not able to make a comeback at some point. We can never know so it doesn't seem right to totally count someone out for me  

I don't feel like the charts should tell us whether someone is over or not tbh. The GP is fickle and has a short attention span  imo, when someone loses their touch or stops making music, then they're over. Not getting a number one for an Olympic theme or whatever Rise was doesn't really say much. 

I'm not a fan of the good sis Katy but she's still going strong and she's still one of the main modern pop names

I agree, but I'm also discouraged by her new Covergirl commercial... One of the main modern pop names should be doing something a little better than this in my book. 

 

 

Plus the packaging feels a little too similar to the Kylie Lip Kit

Probably not, Rise just isn't a good song. Plus it's a ballad and Katy's ballads have never done very well.

even though most of us would like to say yes (myself included ), it's a bit too early to announce that Katy is over, especially considering that Rise was merely a promo/buzz single. 

we will have to wait till her next album pops out and see how well it will do on the charts.
