DEV releases new single and signs with Barry Weiss' "RECORDS"

Dev, the electro-pop singer best known as the voice of Far East Movement’s Hot 100 No. 1 “Like a G6,” has signed to RECORDS, Billboard can exclusively reveal. RECORDS is an independent record label partnership between Barry Weiss and SONGS Music Publishing.

The new deal coincides with the premiere on Beats 1 of Dev’s new R&B-flavored synth-pop single “#1” ahead of its release this Friday (Aug. 19) across digital platforms.

The track features Nef The Pharaoh and was written by Dev, Lil’ Aaron and Nef with production by Felix Snow (Kiiara, Leona Lewis, Nicole Scherzinger).

Weiss, former East Coast chairman of Universal Music Group, CEO RCA/Jive, launched RECORDS last year as a joint venture with New York-based SONGS Publishing (Lorde, The Weeknd). Its early releases include Nelly's "The Fix" and ILoveMemphis' "Hit the Quan,” which reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
