Applause was Top 10 for 14 weeks on the Hot 100. To give you a sense of how big of a hit that is, Bad Romance and Roar both logged in 17 weeks in the Top 10. Your statement is ridiculous and completely untrue and not based on numbers but your personal experience. Bigger than DWUW? Possibly, although they had very similar chart runs, both spending many many weeks in the Billboard Top 20. I'd argue that solely because of radio, DWUW was even bigger than Me Too.

I'm not ta;king about chart runs, though. Yes, in my personal experience, Me Too felt bigger than Applause, and I still stand my by statement. Maybe personal experiences are not very resourceful and as-relevant as other means of calculations, but Me Too had a bigger 'following' than Applause in my view.

Charts aren't always the only way of figuring out how popular a song is. Bad Romance DOMINATED late 2009 and MOST of 2010, no other song was as big as BR, yet it failed to reach #1 on the Hot 100.

Yeah but Bad Romance was on the #2 spot for 2 months :emma: Its chart run clearly shows that it was a smash.. You can't say that Me Too was bigger than Applause just because you "felt" it. Sales-wise,radio-wise,chart-wise it was hardly half as big :p Even No did A LOT worse than Applause.

If you have nothing else to discuss, don't reply with a nonsensical response. Oh my God indeed.

But when you say "charts aren't the only way" and JUST look at Bad Romance's #2 peak you're not even looking at the charts you're merely giving a quick glance. No wonder you feel that charts misrepresent a song. You're not looking at the weeks it spent at a certain position, its sales, radio, and streaming components, as well as what else was on the charts the week(s) it held that peak.

If you look at all that stuff and not just a #2 peak, Bad Romance's success is definitely shown by charts.

They play different songs in different states. Texas radio doesn't touch those songs.

They still can't compete Applause, can't even touch it.

Really where?

Surely not Austin or San Antonio. Never heard them. I actually have no idea what me too sounds like, and I only listened to no on spotify when it came out. I drive between the two cities quite often too.
