lego 44,165
Dr Mohammad, a surgeon in Aleppo who declined to give his surname, treated the young Omran when he arrived at hospital. He was struck by how stunned the boy was. “He arrived in total shock, total bewilderment at what happened,” he said. “His body was covered in dust in addition to blood on his face from a wound on his forehead, and the blood mixed with the dust. “He was frightened and shocked. He had been sitting safely in his home, perhaps asleep,” he said. “And the house was brought down on top of him. When we were treating him, he was not screaming or crying, just in shock.” Hours after he and his family were rescued, Omran was discharged from hospital, having suffered a head injury and bruises in the attack, but nothing too serious. His older sister and brother had been brought in the ambulance with him, while his father also emerged in the aftermath of the strike, his face covered in blood. Sarout said he was surprised the video he filmed had met with such attention. The killing of children has become such a common feature of the war in Aleppo and the rest of Syria that those who document its brutality, day in, day out, are no longer surprised by what they see. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/aug/18/i-filmed-the-syrian-boy-pulled-from-the-rubble-his-wasnt-a-rare-case FreePalestine

Couldn't one person go and comfort him? His mother and brother were critically injured. The emergency workers were probably attending to them and others who were severely injured. Health care workers and volunteers are risking their lives to go into these areas and rescue the injured. Also, they are probably spread thinly for all the emergencies that are happening in that area. Heartbreaking image. This little boy has known war for as long as he has been alive. I'm glad it's being talked about I don't think that is a Western thing. Sister 9,907
I wish that the entire world would think of all of the children FIRST, in EVERY area and that that alone could stop all war and human beings would just argue and debate the problems of the world with words and solutions. It is a simple thing, to love children and it should be a simple thought, that children live amongst all areas that every act of war reaches. I know that this is too simple of an action, but many times, the simplest solutions are the best and the easiest to adhere to. These are the stories and images that could stop war, as long as hearts are open and we have humanity left within us. Gaga has a kind spirit and heart, but we already know this. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
