Natalia Kills DID NOT copy Lady Gaga

You are pointing out the wrong things just like this video does...

People need to deal with what Gaga BROUGHT BACK to the music scene! Grace Jones, Klaus Nomi, Nina Hagen, (one part) of Madonna :reductive: , Bowie,... etc. it's really hard to repeat this list after so many years...

Everyone was dressed in jeans and tank tops in their music videos and performances and sometimes elegant gowns (not avantgarde ones)... no one even thought of changing so many outfits during the awards ceremony during 2000s... And then she came and everyone jumped on the bandwagon... and this is the HOTTEST tea any of you will ever drink :diane:

Gaga didn't invent anything, she just studied what she loved and brought EVERYTHING together and it IS groundbreaking in a way! I mean look at the pop scene, even now when Gaga was fading for a while... trash.

I always looked at Natalia as a person who jumped on the train during the paparazzi/bad romance era and she stayed there, stucked... talking about dark pop and sheeet... I mean really?

Just like Kesha appeared when Just Dance and Poker Face were a thing and she stayed there, stucked...

Don't get me wrong, I love Natalia's music and YES, I relate her and her work to Gaga's earlier work, TFM and sometimes TF and that's a fact.

I love Madonna, I understand her attitude and she is actually one great woman, THE icon! But let's be real, back then she was wearing sweatpants and trending that sportish looks and she never ever served outfits like Gaga did... but just like Natalia said, people compare Gaga to Madonna and they compare Natalia to Gaga...

Someone lock this thread.

They can't scare me, if I scare them first.

This video makes no sense.

- Natalia is just covering her eye. Did Gaga invent the eye covering? Clearly

- Natalia is just throwing money in her video. Did Gaga invent throwing money? Yes

- Natalia is just shaking her head in her music video. Did Gaga invent shaking head? Duh, she invented bones and muscular movement

- Natalia is just wearing sunglasses. Did Gaga invent sunglasses? Gaga is also a sunglasses designer

- Natalia is just sitting on a car in her music video. Did Gaga invent sitting? As above re: muscular movement

- She is just wearing a bob wig. Did Gaga invent the bob wigs? She did indeed, Gaga is a fashion icon

- She has a TV in her video. Did Gaga invent the TV? Gaga didn't just invent television, she invented colour television.

- She is just taking off her sunglasses in the music video. Did Gaga invent that too? Well I mean no, this she did not.

I think I made my point in my responses to your questions.

it's not possible to see it side by side, it's not that literal.

but Mirrors is practically Bad Romance and Wonderland is Paparazzi

also FAME=PERFECTION

it's the same philosophy

I think if you detract from the myopia in the video you linked (which on a case by case basis seems like a rather tactical jab at Natalia),  and look at broader overcurrents in pop culture during the late 2000s, you can get a sense of the spirit of the era.

Pop stars in general tended more toward gaudier fashion / trash glamour / and heavier and darker sonics - something that a lot of artists started doing - as a result, many can be seen as to be following suit to Gaga, whether or not they actually were, because she was seen as the pioneer for this type of pop star due to her first mover's advantage in 2008/09.

Exactly.

I love Natalia Kills - I love everything she did in both era's but I am not going to act like Gaga didn't influence pop culture from harking back to the past and bringing it into the present day and also having "darker" themes come in to her visuals and music.

Is being truthful being negative now? Thanks for the lesson.

yes when you look at it's surface... that's why tfm exists

Gaga showing up everywhere as Alex in the beginning of her career is pretty pretty dark, and that's the main message she was trying to send to GP.... with her hood, shoulder pads and two backup dancers

Remember Fame : Part One?

And of course Natalia used the same gimmick afterwards speaking about it (in an interview I believe), when Gaga never had to do it and it was clear as a day...

I love Problem, Trouble, Saturday Night, and Mr. Watson but cmon she obviously was ****ing copying Gaga.

Maybe she genuinely liked the style of pop Gaga made popular and was genuinely inspired to do it herself, but either way, it wasn't original and it frankly made her look like a trend-jumping try hard. Especially during Perfectionist.

Whatever though bc she's talented and beautiful.

Also, remeber that everyday catchy bop song called 'LoveGame' ?

Well it's dark as hell.

Gaga was just luckier to become successful before Natalia and start  the "darker" themes. That doesn't make Natalia a copycat, right?

Nah she definitely did and it was extremely obvious. She was inspired by Paparazzi/The Fame Monster and gained the same satirical darkness/pretentiousness.  Even her music sounds Gaga-inspired. She started finding her own independence in 2013 but tarnished it all.

Also to note, I'm in no way a hater -- I was never even mad a her for the X Factor incident, I'm just being honest.

EDIT: sorry, I quoted the wrong person. :emma:
