I still think it will end up mostly Max Martin produced album. Maybe some ghost production from Dr.Luke. She has always this kind of verbal diarrhoea between eras how she wants her next album to be deep, personal and dark, but it never ends up true. :saladga:

Ready for her to come and smash once again with her new album.  Judging by Witness and Rise it's definitely going in a new direction.

Either way she never fails to impress. She should release in 2017 and that way she will dominate the year.

From my point of view, her music is very uplifting and happy. There's no crap, no try-hard nonsense, no controversies (beyond internet stan wars). It's all just really nice and happy, an easy way to escape to if you're feeling down. IMO

It's just very different from most pop which is about F-cking or dancing, idk, it's hard to explain. Walking on Air could be a song about sex but it's definitely not Sexxx Dreams or Random Britney Song, you know what I mean? Lol

Not really no. I think theres a lot of pop music that fits the description you desire and thats not what I get from Katy Perry. I feel like shes music for the layman. For people who don't care about good shallow pop and just listen to whatever is on the radio. This "she has no pretense and its all just fun" argument doesn't work for me because (a) it implies pretense is inherently a negative and (b) I think there was an immense amount of pretense in her debut and even moreso in Prism. Just because she doesnt have the same passion in her work that Gaga does and therefore doesn't spill her heart on the table when discussing her own music doesnt mean she lacks pretense. Teenage Dream was fun, I enjoyed some of the singles particularly the title track which I personally think is a new pop classic. But I dont think she holds even superficial value outside of that album. She should be dust by now, but shes not and that has to do with american radio politics and (pardon me) but dumb consumer habits.

I'm not her biggest fan, and I wasn't really a fan of Prism at all, save one or two songs.

But, if the writing from Rise is any indication, then I'm kind of excited. It took me a hot second, but that song is not bad at all. Did it blow me away? No, but I really liked it compared to a lot of her singles.

That said, #JusticeForUnconditionally.

3 points in and ready for more
