I'm 100% with Hillary, but if she did that it would be so tacky, it would break my heart!! I don't expect this at all. Gaga is better than that!! But she can say it in different ways. I honestly don't expect she would have too much commentary on the "election" itself, but more general themes that are surrounding the election. I really feel like the US is seeing a cultural shift that has not been seen since the 1970's. Back then, you had the youth of the nation (who were also in economic crisis during a time of war) raising their voices to say, "this is not what we stand for." Young men, fresh out of high school, were being drafted into the armed forces against their will and asked to give their lives "for their country" in a war that most of the country did not believe in. It's very similar to what the Millennial generation is doing today with the war on terrorism, the war on drugs, the criminalization of mental health issues, #BlackLivesMatter, gay rights, marijuana legalization, women's reproductive rights, refusing to equate Islam with terrorism, etc... The upcoming generation is saying "enough is enough." I think she is going to channel the energy of this movement in her music, just like they did in the 1970's. LUO YI 6,089
I want lyrics with raw and deep themes like Erotica, American Life, and Born This Way. Sonically, some fun melodies. Just look at Deeper And Deeper, Scheibe, and Hollywood. The night sky tells all
Lord Temptation 11,209
The 1980s had the most protest songs of any era. They were anti Cold War and anti-corporate greed ongs.

So yes, no harm in bringing up this comparison. I feel like 'American Life' was Madonna's attempt at making a 'Rhythm Nation'-style album, and having it blow up in her face. But I think Gaga is going to go in a different direction than both of these. With much greater focus towards truly reviving the sonic aesthetic of 1970's rock (which is also FULL of funk, jazz, bass guitar, etc...). It really would be a perfect bridge between the traditional jazz style she's been performing AND the edgier pop style that Mark Ronson is known for. I agree. I also would prefer if Gags didn't make it too obvious like AL though.
ReidOne 12,427
So, if she does go in this direction... it begs the questions: - Is this a good idea? When the biggest hits of the Lady Gaga brand are built on her disco queen persona? When she needs a hit, and the Lady Gaga "brand" is built on dance hits? - Is this a good idea on the heels of 'Lemonade' which has pretty much used the same concept? Beyonce has already earned the title 'Rhythm Nation' of 2016... and by clearly utilizing many elements of 60's & 70's politically-fueled pop style. Will it appear as if Gaga is chasing behind her? Or will it look as if the Pussywagon ladies are side-by-side, riding high together once again, slaying our pop lives with the issues that really matter?? . . . . . crisTEAne 21,059
hopefully, YAS! i think she'll apply her BTW (the song) method to LG5 in that the songs will feature quite explicit lyrics. as she put it in that NME interview, she realized with BTW that she's one of the women of the world, has a platform, and is more than capable to create a "cultural shitstorm." imo, she wants to do that again and i can't wait! if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back

I believe the answer is YES. It is a good idea. And possibly, her biggest likelihood of scoring a smash hit song. I feel like the last 18 months she has been performing a "pressure test" on the GP with C2C and the endless covers of classic music to see if the masses will follow her on a journey beyond her "disco queen" brand... and the answer was YES they will. Maybe even more. To be clear, I do think she's smart enough to know better than to abandon her dance roots. So I think this record will still have plenty of groove to it. But I do think this may be a point in her career where she has to veer away from the obvious club bops & synthesizers in order to secure the GP for life. And I'm here for it!! I know she will still deliver some brilliant, groovy songs regardless. They just might not sound like what we're used to.
joannesrats 26
I honestly think that she will have social commentary and messages in her songs while the songs are still catchy, upbeat, and fun. Formation, for example, is a great club song, it's fun to dance and listen to, you can just bop to it, even though it has a very strong social stance. That being said, I'd love deep, strong songs along with some dance-pop fillers on an album of this type - just to break it up a little.

JustAnotherDay 8,402
Gaga has always been fairly political and j definitly feel there will be a political edge to the album, how could there not in the world we're living in today? However I do NOT want her to do something like American Life, I really love Gaga's music and that's what I'm here for but I do not want her to sacrifice her career because she made a song like American Life, Madonna has never really recovered in the US since then was NickARTPOP
hELXIG 41,681
I 100% agree with you. But also, f*uck the fan base. If they don't like songs about real, important matters (things that Gaga has always been outspoken about) and they just want generic EDM about sex, then they can leave. Sorry guys. Bye. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
