2007 was just a copy and paste from 2006, though more hip hop if I remember well.. Pure Pop was not that big.. But then someone taught us how to just dance it all away

For me, I so vividly remember watching this VMAs and realizing that the era of hip/hop dominating was over. With My Chemical Romance, OK GO, Panic at the Disco and All American Rejects performing I thought we were heading in a direction that favored bands. Panic At the Disco even won Video of the Year, Fall Out Boy won the "Viewers Choice" award over Rihanna, Shakira and Chris Brown and Avenged Sevenfold won Best New Artist.

 

But then late 2006 and 2007 came and the pop females started to dominate, Fergie, Gwen, Rihanna, Avril; and the males Justin Timberlake and Akon (who was now "singing" and not rapping)

I think pop came back into vogue during this time right before Gaga (it would've been nearly impossible for her to become famous had it not). But I think gaga is the reason pop became dance. That's where she revolutionized
