When it comes to longevity, I think Bad Romance will take the cake, but just in that moment when PF was big, it felt like it lasted a lifetime. :legend:

Pound The Alarm is so similar to Starships/WHYB.

Same songs over and over.

Starships and PTA are so messy. It's funny listening to these house/rave songs of hers and remembering how she snapped at someone who called her music "pop" lol.

I think BR is at the level of PF in terms of success if you ask me. If not higher, that song and it's video have been basically critically acclaimed by fans and critics alike and this song cemented her place in pop culture and truly displayed to the word the songwriting AND vocal abilities of Lady Gaga, something PF failed to do imo. The song doesn't have the impressive vocals and songwriting that BR does and I believe it IS her signature song along with BTW.

True, I guess when it comes to cultural impact BR has it beaten.

  • the video
  • the airplay
  • the chant

that song was everywhere.

When will her career end? :sweep:

I think Lady Gaga's lead singles will always be massive, anyway. Esp with this next single, she has a chance to have a Bad Romance/Poker Face moment if she wishes.

People are more intrigued and interested in Lady Gaga than they claim to be and people who say that they hate her sometimes even have her songs on their I-pod. As far as I know/care, Gaga has lost little to no public interest and now that it seems like people are yearning for her presence in radio and in the music industry, then I believe her next lead single will perform very well and might perform like BR or PF and, who knows, outperform them.

There's a ton of pressure on her with this single. We'll have to see how it works out.

Unlike KP/Rihanna etc., people are constantly expecting Lady Gaga to deliver something drastically different from her own work and different from what's on the radio, while also making a hit.

That's what's gold about Gaga, she gained a cult following in late 08/early 09 and then she was seriously overrated, but with Bad Romance she cashed in on it and proved she could write a meaningful, yet catchy pop record. Her success story and how she blasted on the scene is probably the most impressive since Britney Spears.

Everytime I read her name I feel a joy inside of me.

I don't know this is a different era. Britney was part of the disney era pop tart/ boy band explosion. They deserve to be in a box. Gaga was all on her own, different from everyone else on the scene. I really don't think there is much to compare between Gaga and Britney.

I think it's a bit unfair the expectations people impose on her though, versus other pop stars.

She wants to be at another level, it's obvious, but she's slammed for everything that would often get no notice. And it usually has nothing to do with her work.

Like the popstarsdon'teat tweet, who doesn't the media report on all of the trash Nicki and Rihanna tweet?

I think Gaga's meteoric rise is similar to Britney.

It could be argued Gaga rose to fame with take-over of female acts, with Katy Perry/Ke$ha/Nicki Minaj/Adele. I don't think she's really been alone at all.

Look, this is a Gaga forum. It is fine to talk about Britney but it is like someone here says oh, I like this band and you are like oh Britney does this this and this. You seem so one dimensional. Expand your horizons and talk about something else. Next time you go off topic about Britney I am reporting you. You have already been warned.
