Americano 31,061
Dang..what about edge of glory once it shows on glee? would they just think its the reaction to the episode so they would want to play it? Nah. Too long past its release. It'll get played regardless since Gaga is still making a lot of money (specifically with her tour), and radio always wants to play a popular artist. But outside press won't do much. All of her singles will get a boost in airplay when she releases her new lead single eventually though. Pressure from one new release usually has DJs spinning other singles from the same act as well, instead of the same song over and over. Americano 31,061
That explains why an entire discography of an artist rises when they release new material, it's not JUST the hype from the new stuff, but also radio flipping back to old songs and giving them a few extra plays. I still can't believe how much Gagas sales went up in Japan. It a similar reaction is made when she comes here, then that would be awesome. I think it is weird, you would think people who bought concert tickets would buy her album already. But then again, there has been times where I go to a concert and buy the album right after because I did not get around to it yet lol. I can tell people in Japan must feel the same way :)

I can tell people in Japan must feel the same way :) The lovely thing with international markets is that the arrival of an American star generates headlines itself. The plane landing IS promo for them. Specifically with Lady Gaga, her outfits are so eye-catching that it spurs tons of headlines in local press abroad (especially in Asia where she is very popular, and American culture is admired.) Those headlines cause curiosity, so people look up "Gaga" on Google, listen to some of her songs, and then purchase the record. It's not so much the people in the shows buying the album (although I'm sure a few do purchase it after), it's the buzz of her arrival.

Americano 31,061
That probably doesn't always happen, though. Yeah it usually does, lol Unless you're a brand new artist and don't have past singles. I'm sure people heard "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance" more on the radio when Gaga released "Born This Way" Of course BTW got the most spins, but PF/BR also saw an increase in audience impressions. "Usually", yes. I guess I'm taking it to my experience with how Bey and Britney's past songs were kinda rarely heard during their recent eras. Underplaying past songs could be good promo for promoting the new songs.
whiteboi1327 78
Yea that is true, especially Bad Romance, I heard that a ton when BTW was released. I am sure once Gaga's new album comes out, Born this Way and Edge of Glory will be played a lot since it was her biggest hits off the album. I wonder if RedOne is going to work on the new album. I feel like he is the best with her. Nothing beats Bad Romance, Poker Face, and Just Dance. Also Scheibe from BTW, definitely a killer production in my opinion
Phlop 4,773
Is Adele's re-release going to have new songs? Cuz 21 is only like 11 tracks and doesn't really justify more singles. Actually, all the rest of the songs suck besides Turning Tables, they really aren't standouts. And it's not like she's going to shoot anymore videos, so it's a waste tbh. He used some of scheisse's synths in a Porcelain black song, and a Pitbull song. Edited May 13, 2012 by Phlop BYE
hausofmike 127
I am worried too, This is a random thought, but everyone wants "download days" which cost money. Why don't we have a radio request day or week for a song. Since we all want You and I to hit 2,000,000 we should do a request week to give it promotion. It is free and takes a few seconds. Just a thought haha u mean we all want JUDAS to go platinum right?
pie-kun 1,765
Yikes, WHYB falling hard. It's been surpassed by Pitbull and The Wanted to fall to #14, with two straight dark red updates. American Idol Finale should be some good promo for her though, wouldn't be surprised if it shot up to the top 10 afterwards.

Klou 2,414
I keep saying its common for songs to peak on AirPlay influenced sales once the song passes #20 on pop radio. WHYB is another example.
