I'm glad that I'm seeing more negative opinions about Adele. The rain of hate that I've had showering on me lately for daring to be the least bit critical about her is beyond a joke. This is what a fellow commenter said on a news website after I critiqued Adele's Grammy wins and said it was a shame that Gaga didn't recieve one and didn't even get her picture printed in the article:

"Rachel in Glasgow - have you heard Lady Gaga sing live? She was comparable with Britney Spears - in other words completely dire! And as for Adele's lack of promotion - she didn't have to promote it because it flew off the shelves. The songs on the album, her voice on the album speaks for itself. Would you bother do endless promoting when you didn't have to? I think you need to took up the definition of promotion before you write meaningless rubbish on a public forum. She put her heart and soul and all her emotions into writing that album and laid herself bare to the world. Would you do that? She's brave, beautiful and can sing! So pipe down and stop talking nonesense!"

This is what we're up against. After just a year, Adele's fans are now in my top five "worst fanbases" list. The sense of the entitlement, the rudeness to question and assume about other people's lives and the sheer sheeplike nature of believeing all the hype just bewilders me. And yes, I would lay my soul bare in an album, and I unlike Adele, I would make it very personal and wouldn't be so vague about it in order to make the whole world relate to it. This album sells on the fact that the songs are blank states, designed for everyone to step into Adele's shoes and the fact that as a curvy girl, she's thought to be down to earth and humble. If 21 were sung by a skinny girl, no one would give it the time of day.

I'm just over her.

Lately I've jumped on the anti-Adele bandwagon. Not out of being pressed, but because I'm so over her music and the neverending praise. It's becoming absurdly unjustified.

It's like you've step into my head. Personally, I think the word "pressed" should be banned from GGD.

Did y'all see that Adele was offered the headlining slot on the Pyramid stage at next years Glasto...but she turned it down?

You just know that if Gaga turns out to do it, she'll be classed as sloppy seconds. Regardless over whether she was already confirmed for a different night (didn't the guy say he had already secured a female act a while back?)

I'm sure he at least said he was on the verge of securing a popular female (watch it be Rhianna )

I know! She is absolutely un-touchable. No jokes can be made at her expense, even if you poke fun at everyone else too. Apparently being a bit chubby is a no-go area, but making fun of Gaga for being a talentless tranny copycat man beast is cool. Even the media follows this. By all means call Katy Perry and Rihanna sluts, Madonna an old hag, Christina a fat flop and Britney a mentalcase...but thou shall not say a bad word against Adele.

So true, and that's why I've occasionally made appearance-related jokes about Adele but almost never about anyone else. I resent sacred cows and double standards.

I had an argument with a hypocrite at another forum who got all up in arms about someone slagging Adele yet had a lot to say about Madonna looking old. He seemed to think any female who tried to be pretty or attractive or young looking was fair game - and I reminded him of Adele's then recent cleavage bearing photoshoot.

The reason Adele didn't do Glasto was because she gets really bad stage fright and the crowd is (obviously) enormous, she could sell out the O2 5 times over, but she sticks to theatres and smaller venues because it's a smaller crowd, I wouldn't say she's work shy

I don't think she could look more ridiculous

She looks beautiful and feminine. Poor Katy can never win with Monsters.

She does anything remotely like Gaga, she's a copycat. She does something completely different image-wise (like this), she sucks.
