...Cheryl's never released just a flat out, in your face dance track before. Sonically, everything about that song is what the public is eating up right now, that along with the fact she's extremely popular, and the fact it's her big comeback single, well it all bodes very well for her, so to say it's not going to be "anywhere near as huge as WFL" is premature and unfounded.

True, but releasing a dance track alone doesn't equal success. Look at Marina's Radioactive. That tune had the ingredients of everything the public's loving right now and yet, it only reached a peak of #25 and didn't last long in the charts at that. This was laregly due to the fact that it wasn't promoted well and that Marina never really had much success in the UK anyway. WFL was released at the same time and displayed some similarities to this song and became one of the biggest #1 hits of 2011. Then Starships also had similar beats and got to #2 and is still in the top ten. As we can see, the biggest names of the moment are the ones that have success with dance tracks as name recognition is a big part of it. You have to be big right now to have success with a dance track. And Cheryl is not big right now. She hasn't been appearing on tv for a year or released new music for a year and a half and no longer has the massive attention grabbing headlines that she was once a part of when she was married to Ashley and judging on X Factor. We've seen practically none of the girl since May 2011 when she walked off with her tail between her legs after getting fired from X Factor US. No promotion for a year = UK public slowly forgetting about you. Her meal ticket is going to be the Girls Aloud renunion, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying this will fail, maybe you're right. I'm just presenting the options.

Tomorrow is the BTW Ball (and Starships video)

Since Gaga isn't coming to Europe until Autumn, what are you guys gonna watch/look at?

I'm gonna look at the setlist and pictures but I will not watch videos nor listen to the recordings.

Interest in Cheryl is obviously still there because there was a lot of buzz surrounding her track before its radio premiere. Cheryl's track is produced by man of the moment Calvin Harris, which is also going to help massively.

As for Marina, like you said, she's never really been particularly relevant (no shade, it's just a fact) here, and tbh, Radioactive just wasn't very good, so it was never going to be a massive hit. On the other hand, Cheryl's had some big UK hits, and she used to be the nation's sweetheart, so just because she hasn't been in the headlines recently, it doesn't mean the public are going to turn against her.

It's gonna be big. Radio are gonna eat it up, it's perfect for the summer, and the general public have sympathized with her over the X-Factor USA fiasco, so she's not going to have to worry about lack of public support. You don't get a lot of people being all "omg, poor Simon, we hate Cheryl!!", it's "Cheryl was treated like ****"

I'm gonna try avoiding everything, seeing it all for the first time live will be worth it.
