one thing that is in common with Gagas string of tributes and rock covers ... they are all impeccable songs.  For the tributes that would be obvious, but even her selections at Camden, while being topical to the event, are also all just great songs.  And of course Whats Up, burning down the house, etc.  The fact that she is choosing obviously well written and meaningful material encourages me greatly that she is concentrating on a similar direction for her own work with LG5.

I really want to see what she is capable of as a songwriter, to bring out her inner Carole King.  I think she has come nowhere close to her full potential yet.

Concentrating on great songwriting doesn't have to mean all ballads of course, many of those songs aren't.  And it doesn't have to mean non-pop, as pop has over the years had many of the greatest songs.   It doesn't even mean non-electronic pop necessarily  There is a reason Bad Romance is so popular and covered by so many artists, it's a well written and interesting song that isn't just the same old boring pop themes.  It's also a rock song in disguise and has that kind of drive.  So many pop songs are just cliche upon cliche.   Cliched music and cliche-o-matic lyrics.

However, I do think it's unlikely that Gaga will allow the spectacle to overtake the music again.   I think it really hurt her for a long time that people considered her all "flash" and no substance.  Of course fans knew that wasn't true because we dug deep to find all her performances.... I wouldn't be a fan if I hadn't found her piano renditions.   However many people just knew her singles and the extravagant theatrical performances that didn't show off much of her musical talent.  I don't think there will be an end to that stuff necessarily, but I wouldn't expect as big an emphasis on it.  I don't think the theatre is completely gone from Gaga however.

looking forward to what she has in store.  My favorite thing about Gaga is that you really never have any idea what she is going to do.

I'm going to need an official studio cover of this beautiful masterpiece. :applause:

I'd love for her to cover more Neil Young. She loves him and he's a fan; a duet is my biggest goal. LG5 is something I get more hype for as time passes. She's an icon in the making, for sure.
