Getting KP to open the show seems logical anyway since the gp likes her and she also gets lots of views. The VMA looks after their own interest afterall and the song Rise has a strong pull because of the Olympics. It is very fitting for a show called Video Music Awards because it's mostly about the visuals-- like KP--and not focused on actual singing.
