Quark 7,098
o<(0_0)>o What do you think Gaga does best, experimental or commercial music? Or maybe you think she is equally good at both? Examples: Commercial: Pokerface, Telephone, Applause Experimental: Judas, Bloody Mary, Aura

AnglerfishbraBENUS 5,734
Honestly a lot of her songs are experimental until proven otherwise. Pokerface, Bad Romance, etc.

But there are songs that are obviously more commercial or more experimental.
LUO YI 6,089
Nothing from her sounds that experimental to me I would say Aura, Heavy Metal Lover, and Electric Chapel. She's better at experimental. The night sky tells all

TEANUS 15,079
She's honestly great at both. She so EFFORTLESSLY writes generic bops and I think that's why she strives to be more experimental, it pushes her talents British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
REALITY 76,706
Well, I mean she made her come up making very commercialized music. I mean, I wouldn't necessarily say that a song like Just Dance is very experimental. In terms of which one she's better at... I've always liked her more experimental stuff a bit more. Much of ARTPOP is pretty experimental, and I love that album. But objectively, she's better at commercial music, everyone really is, because to a degree there is a set formula in which to follow. Experimental music, is well, experimental, you don't need to follow a pattern or formula that people will just instinctively like. FATCAT 60,081
Her "experimental" music is better in my eyes, but her commercial music is what she's known for. Though, even her experimental music isn't really that experimental. This kitten over here (meow)
Red 97,987
I think she can pull both with the same quality and that's her differential If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

It may be that experimental music may be easier since you just do whatever you want instead of meeting the standards of what is normal or mainstream. Music is an art form and while being able to do whatever you feel like is obviously a good thing, that can lead to overthinking or perhaps just trying to make something sound just the way you want and instead just spend countless hours making something that may not even be who you really are anymore. Whether you like it or not, meeting a criteria and meeting standards is much easier than just creating something experimental. All I am pointing out is that is not always the case that it will be easier to make commercial music.
