KyliesChild 16,907
Lady Gaga had been using many face masks on Instagram to give herself that added healthy glow to her look. However, do you guys know the science behind the products she uses for her skin (and lips)? Read below in today's Learning with Gaga! Collagen The word collagen comes from the ancient Greek word κόλλα (kolla), which translates to “glue”. In humans, collagen comprises one-third of the total protein, accounts for three-quarters of the dry weight of skin, and is the most prevalent component of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Collagen gives our skin elasticity, and over the course of aging the abundance of it causes wrinkles. The epidermic (outer layer of skin) turns thinner and loses elasticity in a process known as elastosis. However, the natural collagen production declines with other factors too, such as: poor diet, stress, gut health imbalances, and more. Just remember that if you want to increase your collagen intake, there are other benefits too since collagen is all over your body. Such benefits include: hormone balance, digestion improvement, and helps keep your bone and joint health intact. "If you lose the collagen structure in your bones, that's osteoporosis," says study coauthor Steffen Oesser, the founder of the Collagen Research Institute in Kiel, Germany, who holds patents on several collagen formulations. "Lose the collagen in skin, you get wrinkles." Here is an article containing food you can eat in order to increase your collagen intake naturally: https://www.newbeauty.com/slideshow/42-top-collagen-boosting-foods/ Did you know that collagen is the most abundant protein in animals? Collagen Structure: It is composed of the individual amino acids Glycine, Proline, Hydroxyproline and Arginine and in nature is found exclusively in animal tissue, especially bones and connective tissue. Collagen is created by fibroblasts, which are specialized skin cells located in the dermis. Fibroblasts also produce other skin structural proteins such as elastin. Below there is an image showcasing the structure of a collagen fiber: There are a few ways you can maintain your collagen levels great. The best way to do this is by avoiding UVA and UVB radiation. Another way to promote the synthesis of collagen is to use chemical exfoliants, such as alphahydroxy and polyhydroxy acids, which break down the bonds between cells of the stratum corneum and slough away dead skin. Type 1 collagen (as contained in Elavonne's Amino Collagen C with Hyaluronic Acid) is the best type of collagen for use in a skin supplement. It is well established that collagen is responsible for skin strength and elasticity, and its degradation leads to wrinkles that accompany aging. Don't be fooled, however. Remember how the whole body uses collagen in one way or another? Well, that is why collagen taken in any way such as supplement form or in bone broth does. It translate immediately to your skin. Basically your body decides how your collagen intake would be used. And don't trust those collagen-rich moisturizers either.

The Surrealist 27,470
I'm over her use of hyaluron. She looks so old now and her bone structure changed from a 18 year old to a 50 year old. I don't think that the fillers are going back this time. She overused it and apparently no one is stopping her from do it. I hate it so much. Fück you, Lisa Vanderpump and Dr. Simon. However I am tired of her “I'm Italian and have good genes, so I can do whatever I want!" attitude about skincare.

Her old lips were iconic and she had the most beautiful bone structure ever and I can shake the feeling that she did this on purpose to distract from her beauty and focus on her music.
