Big truck...

Vehicles, especially, that size are powerful weapons... just like all the accidents and 'hit and run' manslaughter kills people around the world. Yes, let us put restrictions on semiautomatic guns if it will reduce these attacks. I'm all for that at this point, at least, as long as guns for protection aren't outright banned, but regulated and monitered during sales. Authorities need to make better decisions about that.

However, how do we stop these other creative ways to kill like this monster has done? Perhaps, driver licences need to be regulated more thoroughly, especially for large commercial vehicles.

You can't do anything in this case, some random guy decided to drive a truck into a crowd. There will be random guys, trucks and crowds, always.

In fact, this attack wasn't very coordonated, but it's ISIS that is brainwashing these people. They have an enormous influence over terrorists !

That is so evil, proving they don't need bombs anymore to cause terror. And it always in France lately.

Rest In.Peace for all falling victims.

And it will always be France because France represents everything that IS abhors.

France is the symbol of freedom and rights and IS hates our "sinful" way of life. They knows that an attack here will resonate worldwide.

There is so much strife in the world; so many lives lost due to senseless violence. Makes me sick.

I hope all those that were seriously injured make a full recovery. Stay safe out there, everyone.

Our fight in this world isn't against Islam, It's against religion. RIP to those killed by people who worship a man on a cloud.

Not the best time for hatred...

I partially agree. Islam is a bigger problem than religion itself. If we purely look at the deaths, we could assume that Islam and its' followers are the most dangerous. Christianity is not very dangerous as in not fatal.

But what to do about Islamic terrorism? Can't fix Palestine, Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, unemployment in Tunisia and hunger in Africa in one day, all of which seem to play a role in this demonisation of Western society. How can our society become more inclusive towards muslims, though less inclusive towards radical thoughts? Aren't fatal attacks on IS counterproductive?

That's not the reason. The reason is that France and Wallonia have the most terrorists by far. France has big migrant groups living in true gettos (banlieus) with extremely high unemployment and criminality, and no hope for a better situation. That's the environment where most North Africans in France live in. Usually these terrorists chose France because they came from France themselves.

For large events of this nature? Concrete barricades and police cars blocking streets. Maybe those big military tanks the police forces have now in the US?

Well, they could arrest my alive ass after the fact. If there is a situation with possible guns, bombs, etc...I'm going to grab the hand or hands of my loved ones and shout RUN!

A machine gun was used, they said.

It's only illegal to not help when you are not under threat eg seeing someone fall on a peaceful day and not help them down the stairs. That users comment was only sensationalism.

Yes, or spiked strips on the roadways where people are going to be on the street during celebrations like this, so if disgruntled drivers lose their tires if they manage to smash through the police cars and barricades.  If trucks like these are weighed down, they can be powerful battering rams, but by taking out their tires, the more friction will make it harder for the vehicle to maintain momentum and easier for authorities to catch up and stop them before hurting people at least from the magnitude of events in Nice.
