Jill Stein (Green Party) Conversation

President Biden

another comment from Bernie Sanders facebook page :

It's time to pull together stronger than ever before! We need to continue this revolution, and must throw our weight behind a progressive candidate who will make a real difference. With our support we could get #JillStein into national debates and secure federal funding for the Green Party. This is the revolution we have been waiting for. #JillBeforeHill

The naysayers that insist Jill has no chance are the same reason Bernie got buried this election because you thought he didn't either. You are what's wrong with our democracy.

She does have a lot of actions that make a lot of people not wanna vote for her too. Let's not forget those. And everything your describing does sound very ummm..corruption-like. It's puzzling you don't see it.

Who doesn't? Usually you see people spouting total b.s. about her though. One of my friends even says that we'll all die if she wins 'cause she's a murderer or something :flop: I mean, if she's not your candidate then she just isn't and that's fine. Here's hoping that Stein (and maybe Johnson, for self respecting Republicans) can get into the debates and we can have Clinton, Stein, and Johnson debate about real policy and real issues while Trump is off in his corner talking about a wall or how much the others are sweating or something else stupid like that :flop:

I used to be a Bernster, I still would be if he had won () I honestly have no problem giving my vote to Hillary. The "scandals" she's been involved with are grossly blown out of proportion and her experience is invaluable. As an added bonus, the fact that Bernie got so far has opened the eyes of a lot of Democrats to the possibility of running on even more progressive terms. She's taking a bit of him to the White House and that's just awesome :flutter:

Why don't you like Stein? Just curious. I know next to nothing about her.

On the flip side, any Steinsters(?) want to tell me what they like about her?

And remember, people, tearing down one candidate isn't building your own up :ohno:

Wait are you disparaging me for consistency? :toofunny:

Prove it.

How is that disparaging? You're knocking these people for wanting to discuss their views and not wanting to hear your side of things, yet if it's YOUR views, it's totally reasonable. I understand wanting to have a well-rounded conversation, but your goal isn't to do that - it's to stuff Hillary down everyone's throats.

Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders ran his campaign without any Super-PAC donations. Hillary Clinton is qualified, but her "friendships" are definitely not a strong suit for her imo.

Because there's nothing to know about her.

She has never held elected office. She has less than five political papers. She had an embarassing AMA reddit where she failed to answer many simple questions.

She has no qualifications for office and is running with the incredibly patronizing slogan of "The Greater Good" as if she's displayed anything to qualify her for that role.

She parrots GOP lies about Clinton, even outright calling for the prosecution of Clinton.

One example is this. Look at this. She's blaming HILLARY COMPLETELY for all the below when she has had little hand in it herself. She isolates the bad while failing to point out the good.

She abuses Bernie Sanders' supporters by implying that Bernie would support her when he would not. Bernie has been on the record stating he would never run with the Green Party.

She's hijacking Bernie's revolution rhetoric for herself, trying to win over his voters by appealing to the most extreme side of them.

Look how transparent she is :rip:

She's everything I hate about a candidate.

I know I am harsh on Bernie but I never implied he was a fraud (well except for that one meltdown which I apologized for). He was just another politician with his own side and I respected what he had created and what he represents.

What does Jill represent? She represents the #NotHillary. She represents people who think people who make a few mistakes among thousands of successes over thirty years is worse than someone with no resume.

Jill is irrelevant, hinging on other's successes (Bernie), pawing at the feet of her betters (Hillary), and is an incompetent buffoon with no experience in any field.

In fact her insistence on pulling a Nader, recently shown by her Bernie replacement stunt, goes to show she puts her party above progress.

No DECENT progressive would sacrifice the chance to flip the Supreme Court and House to liberal leanings for the first time in decades to advance the interests of their party.

I was tangentially in support of Stein earlier in the election, given that I do believe that the bipartisan system in the USA could use a challenge, but I'm not even in favor of that anymore.

She is literally a fraud. A scam. A pathetic person not even worthy of being called a politician as she has never held office.

I genuinely dislike her. UNLIKE Bernie or Hillary, she has NO good to make up for her bad. None whatsoever. Literally zilch. Nada.

----

I'll leave now. Let people support someone who represents an empty cardboard.

I'm being genuinely honest. No hyperbole whatsoever.

I'll tell you why people support her. It's because she SAYS she believes in certain things by virtue of her party's stand, even if she never exercised her beliefs or got challenged with them by putting them into practice against those with other beliefs.

It's easy to write a belief system. I can sit down with many GGD members and write a nice set of beliefs that we want to make happen. Does that make us qualified to run as a party or one of us as a president? Only those who are competent can make them happen.

The Green Party doesn't even have a plans for them.

But apparently having pretty words is good enough for someone to be president.

Edit: I'm pretty shitty at not responding so if you want to support Flunkenstein stop quoting me :toofunny:. No ex-Bernie supporter can ever convince me that THEY think an irrelevant untried and untested puppet (unlike Bernie's 30 years of "fighting for what's right" in the Senate), a true capitalism libertarian (unlike Bernie's democratic socialism), and a bigoted conservative (complete opposite of Sanders) is a better choice than Hillary (only differ on issues of foreign policy). The inconsistency is real.

Jill just lost points with me too. She wants to ban GMOs and pesticides until they're "proven safe", understands the skepticism towards vaccines, thinks Obamacare isn't a step in the right direction, and supports homeopathy. I was going down her list of positions and at the end it went from common sense liberal to crazy lady :koons:

The GMO thing was enough to make me inch away from Bernie and he only supports labeling them, not a total ban.

Jill and Hillary's stances align 91% of the time. Cut your losses, people  I mean, make your own choices, sure, but just realize that splitting the support here can lead to a comparatively stronger support for someone who is the total opposite of what we want in office...

Still waiting for a Steinster to tell me why they support her. I genuinely would like to hear it :ohno:

I'm not trying to get terribly involved in a debate but here is a decent summary from Reddit  (so use caution I suppose lol)  about Stein and the Green Party on some of these "whacky stances."

"is it true the green party/jill stein supports these anti science positions?"

https://www.reddit.com/r/jillstein/comments/4axxxz/is_it_true_the_green_partyjill_stein_supports/

Not trying to sway anyone...this Green Party is all relatively new to me and I wanted to understand the nuances.  Have a great evening, GGD!

I get the appeal for her kind of, but she's just way too damn shady and transparent :rip: Like, she claims to have these amazing stances (kind of like Bernie, but at least he could back them up :emma: ) but then she blatantly uses rhetoric and propaganda to get people to her side and she always walks the line of "truth" and "misdirection" which makes me very wary of her. I will say that I've watched hours of interviews with her and she's mostly very eloquent and a good speaker who is obviously very intelligent, but even then she has to throw in these punch lines like "These aren't true, but they aren't false, and I have to say them to get people to join me" They are just as guilty as the "brainwashing" people accuse politicians off :saladga:

With Bernie, his beliefs and actions stood for themselves, even if some were a bit far-fetched to come true. Jill Stein is actively appealing to people's base wants and needs with nothing to show that she could actually do anything she wants to achieve if she were president.

Also, with a party that has so many fringe beliefs, were the green party to actually become incredibly popular or whatever, there would STILL be a huge disconnect in the membership and it wouldn't be the perfect party some of ya'll think it would be. Honestly, I think third parties like the Green Party would be more impactful in marketing some of their more concrete views to other parties and getting dem/republicans to endorse those views (though itd probably be Democrats) rather than trying to get their own people elected, because that seems unlikely.
