OMG. Some of yall are to extreme and just need to go get a good **** in. This song slays ...**** the message of it. I needed a good song like this to go to a club and shake my ass to and she delivered. Yall stay pressed. Instead of saying what an artist should do, you do it. Don't criticize an artist because they're not what you (one obsolete individual in the world) want them to be. You be the artist that you want to be in the world instead.

It's funny, I never criticise anyone else for consistently speaking their opinion. I don't mind a disagreeable opinion, so long as it's well-thought-out and respectful. Yet, some people here just won't pay me the same courtesy. I take freedom of speech very seriously and I really don't appreciate when people seem to think it's something worth taking the piss out of when it comes to me just because they think I write too much or they don't like what I have to say.

Shock at that hating on yet another grown woman expressing herself in a way that she finds empowering. Yawn. Next.

Anyway.. I can't wait to hear this on a night out :sis: So fun

I'm a "that" now, am I? You're getting worse and worse in the way you contradict yourself when it comes to your supposedly feminist stance. If you read carefully, you'd see that I'm perfectly fine with Fergie expressing herself, she just went too tacky this time and took on the term MILF as if it's a positive term to be worn with pride.

Just because we disagree with how good a song is doesn't mean we need more sex. I never get why that stuff ever has any conenction. And there is so many better songs you could be dancing to. And it's not so much that I'm telling Fergie what to do (she won't even read this anyway) but more expressing frustration at where women in music still are after all this time. All our opinions are valid, we are all music consumers after all.

The consumers are the actual target audience she is trying to obtain, which clearly is not you. An I don't mean that in a shady way. There is some music out there I don't care about but I feel like I'm not a part of the target audience they intended to get.

As far as sex, I feel like that also goes hand in hand with the target audience. There are many other artist out there who don't use a lot of sex in their music, but why does every artist have to be sexless. This is feminism. Being able to do whatever you want as a female, sex or no sex.

And if opinions are valid they would be called facts. When I hear music on this forum that I don't care for, I keep it moving. I let the people who appreciate the song talk about it and have fun. People on this site hide behind the word "opinion" to much, just to get away with what they say. We just want to enjoy the music and talk among other people who enjoy the song as well.

We're all potential consumers. Target demographics exist, yes, but artists want the whole world to buy a song, obviously. So all our opinions matter.

I'm not supporting women being sexless. I love sexuality, I just think there's ways to go about it that are much more positive and empowering than the damaging ideals supported by the music industry. I think feminism should partly be about supporting a positive image of female sexuality and rejecting the roles that (mostly) male executives want us to be put into. Most music videos are directed by men for men and this one was no different.

No, valid opinions are not the same as facts. A valid opinion simply means "understandable, worth listening to and taking in." It's up to you if you just want to avoid music you don't like but as an amateur music critic, I listen to all music and feel the need to give my opinion on it. I'm an all-round music lover, I just like giving my opinion. I don't hide behind the word "opinion" to get away with saying something. I know what I say is sometimes controversial, but I never intend to hurt anyone or start serious arguments.

1. Not really. Target audiences are always a topic in marketing. If there is a talk about target audiences then that must mean there are not intentions for everyone to buy a song/ album even though that would be great.

2. Feminism is about having the choice to do whatever they want. For example: A woman has an option now to be a house wife or/and be a breadwinner now. It's the same. If fergie chooses to do what she does in her videos then there should be no problem.

3. If something is valid it is a fact. That is basic philosophy. You probably just mean understandable opinion, but I digress. Trust me I listen to and appreciate a lot of music, but my point is instead of raining on people's parade just let them enjoy their music. That's all we want. And I do see you have strong unpopular (i wouldn't call it controversial) opinions and I like that and I mean no shade or ill will but go start a blog or vlog.  You want to be a critic so a blog/vlog would be good for you.  We just want to enjoy the music on here.

How typically lazy of you to accuse me of being some raging misogynistic just because I don't like you and I'm tired of your nonsense. Having seen the pompous and judgemental way in which you speak about some women and their choices, I don't really seek your validation as far as feminism goes at all. And I never called you a bitch. How dare you literally put words in my mouth to make me look bad. Are you trying to make feminism look bad?

You can say whatever you want. I've never tried to silence you or change your outlook - which is ironically what you want to do with artists like Fergie. But I'm also allowed to say whatever I want regarding your opinion.

Anyway I'm not gonna derail this thread into another one of our back-and-forths because it's very boring for me and I'm sure probably everyone else. If you'd like to respond to me you can do so in private, but I'm not gonna piss everyone off here with this.

Surely, a woman's idea of feminism should really be taken into consideration as opposed to a man's view of it? I came to my views based on my own experiences and the experiences of other women. We know what we're talking about. And we say that the image so often projected of us can play a vital role in how we're treated by society and are concerned about what messages the new generation are picking up.

Validity can mean different things, it doesn't mean fact, look it up. It can be based in fact, but also in logic. I'm not really bothered in starting a blog that most people probably won't read and that I have to do upkeep with. I'd rather talk about it on this forum, where I have friends and where I know I'll get a response and where I feel generally comfortable. There is no rules against submitting disagreeable opinions on this forum, so while I have the right to do it, I'll do it, thank you.

It's not being lazy if there's a genuine habit you're getting into. I judge women fairly and as equally as any man, I don't see what's so unfeminist about that. Kissing the feet of all women gets us nowhere. I never said you called me a bitch, but it's clear that's what you think of me, it's always implied. You're fine with women's opinions so long as they're from women you like. You've certainly bigged up hateful stuff from women before, yet my views are somehow more hateful?

You have tried to silence me, like in what you just did, saying "that" is posting again. De-humanising me by making me into a thing. And whenever I talk to you these days, you shorten it down to an "ok," never attempting to engage, thereby hoping I just shut up and drop everything, which I do. I'm not forcing people to change their outlooks - if they do, that's just a bonus. All I intend by stating my opinions is that people can consider them and respectfully talk with me regarding them. I don't aim to be militant or arrogant about anything, it's just that so many people take it that way because they're so threatened by a different way of thinking. You can say whatever you want regarding my opinion, just as long as it's respectful...which it never is.

Well, if you do want to talk in private, I actually want you to reply properly this time. I'm not going to talk to you if you're just going to be disagreeable and not attempt to understand me at all. We'd get along better if you tried to put yourself on my level for once.

This is slick why feminism is look at as negative. At the end of the day women can do whatever they please. That is feminism. Criticizing every move a woman makes is not you being a feminist. It actually makes you an anti feminist and an extremist. At the end of the day fergie can do what ever she wants and that is where true feminism lies. The more and more you talk, the more and more I start to think you are just a troll. I tried to talk to you but idk. You just seem a little to young right now. And if you are older then all I can do is chuckle.

And this is why feminists struggle to be heard, when men put us down for apparently over-exaggerating and not lightening up. Some of you have no ideas of the struggles we have had or what it's like to be objectified and degraded. I'm sick of people thinking that feminism is all about "Women have the right to do whatever they want and that's it." It's so much more complex than that and involves sadness and pain and this side is the side no one talks about. I am not criticising every move a woman makes, I am criticsing the choices foisted on them by men and how society has made them have such low self esteem that they feel they have to cater to men to be worthwhile. How dare you tell me I am not a feminist. I've been studying feminism for 12 years and have suffered sexism as a woman. I am not an extremist, I'm just a regular feminist with something to say. I'm not a troll, I've been on this site for over 6 years, have friends and am on good terms with mods. Sad how a view on feminism that you've never heard has to be be attributed to troll behaviour. And I'm 26, actually. The fact you think my opinions of feminism are not credible because of perceived youth really show that you have a lot to learn about feminism.

Yes, I read what you said but I wanted to make some things clear beforehand if that were the case. And you've tried to slander me on this forum before as well, so, I'm only clearing my name. If you want to be honest, I can do that. I just want to be sure you can talk to me without bailing out as usual.
