Why do they need to be parading around their blackness at an a Pride event? Shouldn't the focus be on that they're LGBTQ, not black?

Because being POC affect their experience of being LGBTQ? first for being POC within a community that has a majority of White and then for being targeted by systemic racism and also by discrimination towards gays, so of course POC should voice their issue because even within a only POC community they will be discriminated for being gay, like literally if we listen to you, there is no way they will ever get any support from anyone, if they can only voice one facet of their identity at each event. It's a complex topic but what is so hard about listening to the struggle of others that are, you like or not, a part of the LGBTQ community. Lesbian will have different experience than gay men and same goes with bisexual, race unfortunately still has an impact too and it should be acknowledge.

Now BLM is not always the most diplomatic in its approach but you always need a few voices that are louder because that's the only way people pay attention, just look at ACT UP, no one gave a **** before that gays were dying, and same for most POC if they were sitting nicely and patiently no one would listen so of course they take the piss and raise their voice, because unfortunately that's the only to have the attention of someone.

It seems that Black people in Canada face similar issues with police, sadly.

They don't.

Black people killed by police in 2016 America: 123 so far (515 people total).

Black people killed by police in 2016 Canada: unknown, however, Canadian police kill 25 people a year on average, and blacks make up less than 3% of the population.

If anyone has the right to complain about police killings in Canada (which in my opinion, they don't!) it's Indians/First Nations/Aboriginals. They have serious problems in their communities with domestic violence, drugs, alcohol, etc. It's not the few black people who are in trouble up here in Canada. Focusing on blacks? In Canada? Psh!

Y'all know queer people can be black right? Y'all know all the people protesting could be coming at this from an intersection and not just randomly jumping in right?

Shouldn't people be more focused on racism as a whole and not just racism towards people who are LGBT and black? They'd be better off doing something combating racism as a whole

Also not some of y'all taking that girl's tweet seriously :rip: Y'all know statements like that from people on twitter are often purposely sarcastic and hyperbolic right?

But people are already doing this and it doesn't change the fact that it exists within the community, so you have to fight against on every form. If you think racism sucks why is it difficult for you to listen to other LGBTQ that suffer from it? I mean you have more in common with them than any straight folks, and their experience is indeed special because they suffer from double discrimination.

Generally gay people are not going to be racist. They're basically wasting their time

So uneducated :rip: don't speak about problems you don't know zip about. :rip:

- Black men are the most undesirable on Gay Apps that are mostly filled with White Gays

- Black Men are fetishized because of sterotypes that involve the size of our penis's

- Black Transwomen are major targets of hate crimes.

LGBTQ POC have ever right to be vocal about struggles, but you're scared of this. Why?

You think so? Just see how people overreact here and basically show that POC shouldn't have a platform to express themselves and just show their gayness at LGBTQ events. You do have POC being discriminated and considered less because they are POC in the community, just in this thread someone said that Black were usually homophobic. There are a lot of stereotypes going on.

I know plenty of racist gay people....  Not that they should have been there anyway. Its just because ones gay dosent make then not racist. I think BLM just wanted publicity
