Sorry to say this, but relatively less things are wrong with the world now than before. Funny how things are so wrong with the world now that these events are happening in the US and EU, but the continuous war in the middle east and thousands of executions were like the regular thing. Now before someone quotes me with 'we're used to war in the middle east! The fact that its happening here is whats alarming!', that's still not an excuse for ignoring whats been happeneing before when trying to judge the state of the world. WWI and II literally happened in Europe. You were never in a safe bubble, no one on the planet is. I'm not sure if you're implying that I don't care about the attacks or the victims because that's a terrible accusation. I'm not heartless and it makes me sick as much as you. But it's hard to really express your empathy about something you're used to. Edit: reread that; just to clarify, I meant just as much as the attacks make you sick. But we grew up in the safe bubble. We aka the 90's generation didn't lived through what our grandparents and parents lived through with the WW2 or the Cold War. Of ALL people you really shouldn't be telling me that I "missed the point of empathy." When I made my post I was thinking of a specific person who told me years ago that she (literally) thinks "the world has never been worse than it is now. So many people are killing each other, kids are being kidnapped and molested. We are worse off now than we were a hundred years ago!"
